Is anyone considering going to Yale, or know someone who's going there? When I recently told my parents that I wanted to be an English major, they recommended Yale as a college, so I've been trying to find some information on it. I've visited their website, but is there anyone else who wants to go, or has extra information on it?

Hmm. I haven't thought of it, or looked it up.

I'm also planning on being an English major and minor in Creative Writing.
So I'll have to check it out.

a couple of my teachers went to yale and one of their sons is at Yale right now. I was thinking about going to Harvard, but when I got my SAT scores back I was like hmm maybe not. but Yale is a very good school and I LOVE the campus. it is right in the city and it's not hard to get around, and the surrounding areas are sooo cute. I stayed there for a little while because I went to a Model UN program there, some of their buildings were kind of old, but I'm sure they will be updating soon, if not already. But if you think you can get in, I would say go for it.

See, I think I can get in, but my school doesn't have the best curriculum (sp?), so that's the only thing that has me worried. I have to ask my guidance co. about that.

Yale is a great school, to be sure. I'd check out their website. They are Ivy League, however and they only accept 9% of their applicants. So, not to be rude, I'd have a back-up school just in case. Also be prepared for massive student loans if you can't get an academic scholarship or financial aid. Their average yearly cost is roughly $47,520. That's just this year, though, so it will probably go up in years to come. They do offer very substantial financial aid and scholarships, but I'm fairly certain that Ivy League schools don't offer athletic scholarships, much like Division III schools.

This is their English Department's webpage.

Just a side note, most private colleges whether they are Ivy or not will cost about that much a year. And if you apply to Harvard and get in, if you parents make less than $60,000 they will award you full tuition.

Mmm. I know. It's outrageous how much college costs.

I have a few backups; I made sure of that. ;) I don't know how much of an issue cost is, because they've been planning on lots of extra classes, and eight years in vet school. But we're going to talk about it more later, when they're both actually home.

I am only a sophmore in high school but I have been looking at colleges, and one of them that I looked at was Yale. It looks like a great school. I am planning on going to college for a totally different major then you though. I'm planning on going to college on an academic scholarship. I have an over a 4.0 average. I am planning on going to Case Western University here in Cleveland though. That is also a good college if you want to look into some back up schools. Also maybe Stanford?

Yeah, I'm a sophomore too, but it's still something I want to look into and be pretty sure about it. Better be prepared.

well, i'm not even a freshman yet, but Yale is certainly in my top ten schools that I'd like to go to.

Numbers 1 and 2 are Georgetown and UNC, though.

My number one pick is Carleton in Minnesota, then Princeton in NJ, then Universite de Montreal, then University of Florida, and finally University of New Hampshire. I've been thinking of studying in France or England, though. So you never know. I'm a junior, so I have to pick soon!

I've been accepted to 5 schools so far. I really liked BSC which I think is my first choice but I'm still skeptical if I am going to pick the right school for me. I'm so scared, but hopefully I will make a final decision over Christmas break.

I have 2 cousins who attend UNC. They love it there.

Nope,sorry.
Good luck though, when it's time to apply.
I'm only a freshman, and I want to go to University of Pennsylvania,Notre Dame,Duke, any one of those.
But with my track record already,I'll be lucky if I can get into community college.

I too want to be an English major. I will be attending Winthrop University next year. I didn't even consider applying to Yale, for one thing it's too far from home!
