Yak & Yeti vs T-Rex

I just changed my T-Rex reservation for a Yak & Yeti. Good move?

T-Rex might be the worst dining experience my family has ever had at WDW. Loud and crowded; tacky decor compared to inside the parks; lukewarm, school cafeteria quality food; very poor service; all for high prices. I usually don't complain about pricing at WDW, it is what it is, but T-Rex's prices were in insult to us considered the bad food and service. I believe there was some mild food poisoning as well. At least we didn't sit in the ice cave, the lighting there was giving some people headaches and nausea.

So...yeah, I support the move.

Of the Landry's Restaurants....Yak n Yeti was far and away the best. Rainforest Cafe was better than T-Rex as well.
Our last experience at T-Rex might have been tainted because our kids were a little scared at first (not scared at Rainforest Cafe, though), but the food was really not good. My twins who would eat Kraft mac and cheese every day (don't judge, I do at least buy the organic version and they eat fruits and veggies) would not eat the mac and cheese there. The kid pizza was not as good as Lean Cuisine, the adult steak was Applebee's (definitely not even as good as Longhorn or Outback), it just was not good and really loud. If you do go there for the atmosphere...stick to the fried food, that food was okay...just don't expect anything amazing.

Love the steak and shrimp at Yak & Yeti. One of our favorite TS locations.

Good move.

I have no complaints about either but I definitely enjoyed Y&Y more than T-Rex. I don't think you will be disappointed!

Good move. Y&Y has better food & the decor/atmosphere is interesting in a lets trek the Himalayas kind of way. Even if seated downstairs, def go upstairs to see the armored warriors. T-Rex has neat animatronics and dinosaurs are always cool. But the food isn't as good as the atmosphere. I agree it can be overwhelming & a bit scary for some younger children (and maybe even a few adults!)

I am in the minority here, but we really like T-Rex, a must do for us each trip. It can be loud, but we really enjoy the ice cave and anamatronics.

We have always had good food there, the mushroom ravioli is really, really good.

I have never been to Y&Y, but we enjoy T-Rex quite a bit.

We've done both multiple times and will return to both but Y&Y is one of my favorites restaurants on site. It's always so nice to go there after a hot day of touring AK.

not even tried yak and yeti, but yes i would never go t-rex again, awful food, awful service :( never again. think our meal for two was over 2 hours, not to mention i hadn't even finished my main and the server took my other half's plate away and brought out the desserts.

I eat at both every trip (at least 3 sometimes 4 times a year) and I've never had a bad meal or poor service any time I've ever been there. In fact, during my trip last month I ate at T-Rex twice. Really enjoyed it both times. The servers there were a hundred times better than we experienced in the Disney restaurants this time. Maybe it's because I'm a Landry's Select member but I don't know why that would make a difference

Yes, you made a good decision. Although we also had a great experience at T-Rex. Food definitely seemed a step above Rainforest and other similar chains. Service was the best we had that whole week at Disney. Son loved the whole dinosaur atmosphere. But it is LOUD. You just have to know that going in!

But we've been to Y&Y twice and never had a complaint about anything there at all. Honestly, you'd be fine at either.

My young adult kids groove on t-Rex for the campy decor. We only get things like nachos and wings. Not actual food.

Yak and Yeti is a table service restaurant for both lunch and dinner, but there is a counter service stand right next door featuring some of the same food.

Is it better to just use the counter service and use my TS else where? I am on the DDP

They are completely different experiences. I really love Yak and Yeti TS - the food is good, the restaurant is nice and calm with interesting decor, and I covet the fried wonton dessert.

We got the quick service once and it was fine - basically the same chicken and broccoli that you'd get at the local Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. It definitely doesn't replace the yak and yeti restaurant.

I really enjoy both. I thought the food at T-Rex was just fine, but Y&Y is my favorite restaurant in all of Disney.
