Yak & Yeti review -- Orlando Sentinel

We are still trying it out, too! :thumbsup2

The reviewer obviously did not "get" the theme.

I am sure that the entrees will evolve a bit as they get feedback from customers. :goodvibes

I tried it back in December. While the food was nothing to write home about, it certainly wasn't bad...just slightly above average. At the time, I think hardly anyone knew Y&Y was open, perhaps they are having a hard time dealing with more of a crowd? I also agree that it's overpriced, but that goes with being in the parks--still not as bad as $10 cheeseburger meals. In any case, I enjoyed the atmosphere, thought it made up for the food.

A lousy review from a paper that generally is VERY forgiving of WDW restaurants doesn't make you folks take pause? I don't get it.:confused3

All of the 'foodie' reviews here on the DIS have been critical of the food at Yuk and Yeti thus far, as well. Nearly everyone has had good service and the ambiance is great but generic Chinese food for extreme prices seem to get low reviews.

Well, to each their own but I'll wait until some actual stirling reviews from trusted sources come in before they'll gtet my buck.

Tried it in Dec. It was mediocre at best. The menu is dumbed down and uninspired. On the upside the service was good and the vibe is cool. If I were really hungry I might go back, but probably not without a DDE discount.

I've got an ADR for two days from now... seriously reconsidering my options at this point.

Yak & Yeti made what must have been a conscious decision to serve second-rate food.

The slogan could be “Yakkity Yak – Don’t eat that!”

Landry’s Restaurants, the company that operates Y & Y as well as Rainforest Café ..... It’s their food, after all, and they should be ashamed to serve it.

Wow! they got called out :rotfl2: big time:lmao:

We are going to try it in April, maybe it will be good and maybe it wont but at least I can say I tried it!

I've read enough good reviews on here that I'm still going to try it. I'm on the DDP anyway, so I have nothing to lose.

I really hope that Landrys higher ups read this and cause a change at the restaurant that will make it a more consistently good meal. We have not eaten there yet, but I do respect Scott Josephs reviews.

I liked it...been there twice. But then, I wasn't expecting food along the lines of Bluezoo or CG. Had the steak dish that was mentioned in the review the first time, as well as pot stickers, and they were quite tasty. Last visit had the beef and broccoli...while nothing to rave about, certainly nothing to complain about.
Awesome decor.
