Yak & Yeti - main dining room - TS - I have read large portions.
DD is not a big eater. DS like ribs. DD likes chicken and Lo Mein

Could we each order soup, each get an egg roll and then split 3 entrees - ask for a 4th empty plate ?

Do they have an empty extra plate fee, maybe $10 ?

We would share:
Baby Back Ribs
Lo Mein with Chicken
Bourbon Chicken

DH and I ate here in October. We each ordered an entree and we each finished it. We are not particularly big eaters. We did not have appetizers however.
That said, I believe you could do what you ask. I would not say "ordering family style". I would just order what you want and ask for an extra plate. Sharing is fairly commonat WDW

Yak and Yeti has similar portion sizes to many of the other Disney Table Service restaurants; certainly bigger than Counter Service, but nothing ridiculous...

It won't be a problem and there isn't any charge for ordering fewer entrees than there are guests.

I find the portions at Yak n Yeti to be huge, so I have done a lot of sharing and there was never an issue with getting an extra plate.

Thank you.
We do not mind paying an extra plate fee, as long as it is in the $10 range or less. If it is $20 for a plate fee, we will have our DD order from the kids menu (to get a plate too).

She could oder from the kids menu and Egg Roll with an applesauce cup.
Then add LoMein and some Bourbon chicken from ours.

DS could do the ribs by himself.
At a local steak house he eats at least a 1/2 a rack of riibs, and could easily devour 3/4 a rack of ribs. Not sure about a full rack of ribs. Our DS is a "rib man" and a growing teen.

We are huge sharers. An extra empty plate should not incur a charge. An extra plate with sides will. Your server needs no explanation. WDW is full of families. Families share. :goodvibes

As everyone who has answered you has said, there is no plate sharing fee. One less thing for you to worry about.
