Hello everyone! This is going to be our first trip since 2015 & my have things have changed!

I've read the posts regarding the Landry's membership, that there is a $25 fee BUT you get a $25 credit for your first meal, that you receive a $25 credit for your birthday & that you can use it at the same time as the Welcome Reward & that with a Landry's membership you receive VIP seating. All these perks inspired me to join in time for our trip on May 18th but mostly the VIP seating. For us, the VIP seating makes it easier to plan for the FOP lines. This way we can go when it makes the most sense for our family.

I have received my Birthday Reward notification & it says "redeem your $25 Welcome Reward by the end of the month and receive your Birthday Reward*, redeemable on a subsequent visit" & that "*Welcome & Birthday Rewards can not be used on the same visit". Anyone have any RECENT experiences with this?

People started reporting that disclaimer a few months ago.

When I signed up for a trip in October 2016, I was able to use both rewards on the same meal. It didn’t have a disclaimer then though so it must be new since I joined.

That said, you can use those credits toward food and drink in Disney World at the Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex and Y&Y. If I were signing up now, I’d use one reward toward a meal and the other toward drinks at the Safari Bar in the Rainforest Cafe at AK.

I highly recommend Y&Y for dining. Our meals there in 2016 and 2017 were absolutely outstanding. Food quality and quantity, drinks, service and atmosphere were all top notch. I think it’s one of the best restaurants at WDW right now.

The Y&Y staff treats you like gold. After the meal, a manager will come by to welcome you to Florida and tell you how pleased they are that you dined there. It’s really a nice touch. :)

Landry's card - 100% worth it.
I've read multiple times that you can't combine your welcome reward and birthday reward. Perhaps you can split the check, or come back on a different day, or perhaps use it in the Yak and Yeti, Rainforest Café, or T-Rex gift shop?

The VIP priority seating alone is worth the price of the card. The card doesn't expire. Plus you get an annual birthday reward of $25.

I used to work at Rainforest Cafe at Disney Springs and we used people’s welcome discount and birthday discount all the time. They say openly that they don’t but, it’s because sometimes it takes the system an hour after activation to show your credit. So if you buy it from a hostess to skip the wait outside, then it will probably be there by the end of the meal. If you buy it from the server when they offer it toward the end of the meal, it usually won’t have enough time to show up, so they just say it can’t be done.

Wasn’t able to use both together at Rainforest DS last week- asked the manager and was denied. We were allowed to use the birthday reward to buy merchandise in the Rainforest store after the meal.

^^^ THIS! As others have reported above, I was also able to use both on the same meal at Y&Y this past November 2017. I agree it's worth it regardless, and I would definitely recommend Y&Y over Rainforest Café if I'm picking a meal. The meal and the service were outstanding. I think it's all about expectations...if you know going in that they may not let you use both, you won't be surprised if they turn you down. So just have a backup to use the other $25 credit elsewhere.

We had to buy a new furnace this winter. I put it on a credit card and paid it off right away, but doing that gave me reward points for Landry’s gift cards.

I can hardly wait to use them at Y&Y. I’m inclined to order the same things as last time because everything was so good: Dragon Roll, Kobe beef burger with smoked Gouda and mushroom topping plus a Yak Attack or two.

That burger was so delicious, I’m almost afraid to order it again. If it’s not as marvelous as I recall, I’ll be disappointed. LOL!

The year before when I used my welcome and birthday rewards at the same meal, I got the chicken Tikka masala. It was very good too. The naan bread that came with it was outstanding.

The chicken tikka masala is what I had too!! OMG...it was delicious. But now I want that burger! and we aren't going to Yak & Yeti this next trip.

We were there a few weeks ago. The priority seating is the best perk of being a Landry's Select Club member. We went twice during the height of lunch hour and were seated within minutes each time. We were using the Deluxe Dining plan, so apps were included with our meal. We asked about using the reward for additional adult beverages. We did find out that the Landry's rewards cannot be used on alcohol IF you reside in Massachusetts... which we do. Apparently the rules vary depending on which state you reside in and the home address you use for your membership. We didn't get a chance to use our welcome or birthday reward, but we felt the priority seating alone was worth the $25 spent.

The ahi tuna nachos..... I could eat that dish as a meal! Yum!! I also ordered the duck, which was delicious and the coconut shrimp. The shrimp was good enough. But.. those nachos

Thanks for this post as I was wondering whether you could use the Landry card with the DDP and this has answered my question! Awesome. Like you the prioity seating makes the $25 worth it for us anyway, but I was concerned that if we used it even for seating we wouldn't be able to use DDP credits.

You definitely can use it along with DDP. We just didn't use the rewards bc we didn't order anything that wasn't included in our plan, except additional alcohol which we couldn't use the reward for.

I was wondering too about the DXDP and the Landry's card. So happy to hear it will work. Do I need an ADR if I have the Landry's card?

I tried to use my Welcome $25 and my Birthday $25 at the same time this past March and was denied. Said they couldn't be combined. What's worse is they HAD to deduct the Welcome credit FIRST, so that left me with 4 days to use my Birthday credit, which I couldn't. I felt somewhat dismayed and misled by Landrys. Very disappointed.

Thank you for the thread! I had the same question. I'm honestly not surprised that they no longer combine credits, many other places won't do that. :confused3 I mean, it does say it in the email. Luckily I have a Landry's property near home so if I don't get to use my second credit on drinks or something later at Disney I'll have to have a sad post-Disney World birthday lunch at home.

No idea about the quick service location but considering I assume they use the same POS system it should work. In saying that besides Yak and Yeti and the Rainforest Cafe, there are other Landrys locations in Orlando with great food, if you dont mind the 15 minute drive off Property via Uber or Rental Car

Sorry you were unable to use both rewards at the same time since this was something that used to be allowed. Unfortunately, Landry's changed the terms of use at the beginning of this year. In the Landry's Club FAQs it now says that the two rewards cannot be used together anymore. It also says restaurants must redeem the rewards in a specific order which is why you could not redeem the birthday reward first.
