I've been "practicing" booking dinning reservations for our trip in October and Y&Y is by far the hardest reservation to get. We will be eating lunch there around 1pm before heading to MK for MNSSHP. Other reservations we will be making include Space 220 and Geo 82 Fireworks but Y&Y is consistently gone before those. Why is that?

It's very popular. Highly recommend getting the Landry's select card. You pay a fee but immediately receive it back in a credit and have the ability to call the restaurant directly for reservations or make walk-up requests (they hold some reservations back from the Disney system). You also get a bonus credit each year for your birthday.

The Landry's select card is really the way to go. It has a one time fee, but the fee is given as credit on your first visit, plus there is a birthday month credit each year, but the best reason to get the card:

Walk up, flash the card like you're someone special, and you'll be moved the top of the wait list, above those people sitting there waiting for their ADR's. In addition to Y&Y, it can also be used at Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex at Disney. There are other restaurants outside of Disney that also impart the benefit, like Morton's and Bubba Gump. My own experience has been that I'd arrive and hear someone be told it's 45 minutes or longer for a walk-up, and then be seated less than 5-10 minutes later.

Y&Y releases very few Disney ADRs. You can call direct and make a res if you are a Landry’s member, or do the walk up method mentioned above. If you don’t want to be a member just go as a walk up, they’ll tell you what the wait is and you can decide if you want to wait or bail. It’s a pretty big restaurant, I’ve heard them state wait times of around 45 mins but unlike Disney I don’t recall hearing them turn people away because they’re full.

I agree with the Landry’s card. If you show the card they’ll seat you very quickly with no reservation (in my experience). Much quicker than if you just walk up without the Landry’s card. You also earn points on your meal and get a $25 credit the month of your bday (they don’t check it so you can say your bday is the month you travel and you’ll get the $25 bday credit plus the $25 initial fee back). It works at all Landry’s owned restaurants

Are you going to be staying onsite? I just did my 60+10 ADRs last week and had zero problem booking Y&Y. There were quite a few times available throughout the day. The one elusive ADR I did have trouble getting was a dinner adr for ‘Ohana.

Yes staying onsite. I assume you booked first thing in the morning on the first available day.

I’m on the west coast and I did not feel like making ADRs at 3am 😂 So made them about 11:30 EST and it was one of the last ADRs I made for that part of our split stay.

Landrys card is the way to go when trying to reserve Y&Y, for some reason it is very hard to get a reservation there...We once got lucky and there was a cancellation the day before we went to AK...you never know !!!

Getting a reservation day before or even day of is tough to predict but it happens a lot, people always book things like Y&Y, Topolinos, etc. (probably because the internet tells them to), and cancel them once they get on property and realize they're over-extended.

I read somewhere that Yak N Yeti holds back about half their availability for Landrys members. I was stalking them for a dinnertime and ended up booking a lunch because we really want to go there. Getting the card is not off the table...I may still do that but I just like having the plans set.

So if no Landry's members show up, they take walk-ins to fill all the tables they've left open?

We had a rez here but plans changed before our trip so I canceled it. On another day of our trip, we decided we wanted to go here and with the Landry's Select card, we waited less than 10 minutes for a table. We had a window table on the 2nd floor, it was a great view. The food was one of the better meals we had on our 10 day trip and service was the best, even the manager (assumption on my part) stopped by our table 2 or 3 times to see how we were doing and chit chat for a minute or two. It is well worth the price of a card.

Yes, they're usually accepting walk-ins, although the wait could be on the longer side (40 minutes plus). And I have been there a couple of times on very busy days when they weren't taking non-Landry's walk-ups at all, so it's not a guarantee. There is a very small bar (literal bar, no lounge tables) that is always first-come, first-served.

Yeah I recall once we tried to get a table but were unable so we just ate at the bar.

Landry's card is definitely the way to go. That way you don't have to concern yourself with an ADR at all. You might have to wait a bit for your table if it's incredibly busy, but you will get seated. We never have to wait that long.
