just wanted to pass this along....last night we were at AK for late hours (fun) and decided to try Yak and Yeti, the indoor place....we were mightily surprised by how WONDERFUL it was!!!! We've gone to AK for years and never stopped here....we are big fans of our own local Thai restaurant, this food rivaled that authentic quality! we even had 2 allergy people, and the chef personally brought out their dinners, and WOW! If you like asian style food, this place is now on our 'must do' list to eat when we go. I highly recommend it here:cool1:

Thanks! We are dying to try this place. I've heard good things about it. What did you order? The theming looks awesome here too.:goodvibes

Thanks for the opinion. We've been afraid to try this because we had a CS meal at the stand near it and it was awful......just figured that it wasn't the place to get a good asian meal. I think it is too late to work it in for our upcoming trip but maybe we can try it on the next one. Thanks.

So glad you enjoyed it. We were there in September 2008 and it was the second best meal of our trip (topped only by LeCellier). We loved it.

We found the food to be acceptable when we were there, and the theming is good. With that being said, the theming is very Indian-Asian, but the food is very Oriental-Asian. It would be like having an "American" themed restaurant with Nautical New-England type decorations that served Chili and Salsa-covered steaks. Didn't seem to match up for us.

we tried the outdoor stand too...not too impressed-bleh!
the indoor place was a bit of a mix of asian styles, edpending on what you order- but the quality was just about on par with our local ethnic places run by Thai people....mmmmm.... dh ordered the curry seafood dish, the fried greenbeans and chili sauce were mmmm! (kind of a japanese tempura batter with a thai sauce;))
ds had a gluten free fish and veggie plate that was just about the best fish I've ever tasted......

Thanks for the info, just booked a ressie there for lunch on our upcoming trip and didn't know whether to keep it or not because I've never heard to much about it, but now I'm not so afraid to give it a try.

My family and I love this restaurant! We ate there the first time last year and are planning on going back in March.

DS had the Crispy Honey Chicken - tempura chicken, broccoli, carrots, honey sauce, he loved it.

I had the Baby Back Ribs - slow-roasted ribs, hoisin BBQ sauce, chicken fried rice, sweet chili slaw, ribs were very tender and fell off the bone

My DH had the Shaoxing Steak and Shrimp - skirt steak, tempura-battered shrimp, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables, chili plum dipping sauce

My other 2 sons just ordered off the kids menu.

Just chiming in to agree with you, that place is totally awesome!!!! It was the best meal of our trip when we went!!!!! The ribs, the shrimp and steak, the wonton dessert -- all to DIE for!!!

This has become our absolute favorite,

2nd the Skirt steak and shrimp, AMAZING! And don't miss the Won Ton/Cream Cheese Pineapple dessert! YUM!

:thumbsup2

I really like Y&Y too, I think it's a great addition to AK. And it really needed another TS restaurant.

I have to agree. It was one of the best meals at Disney I've had. We went for lunch and I ordered simple Lo Mein. Great flavor. Yum.

thanks for posting. we are trying it for the first time on our upcoming Disney trip. I'm so glad to read good reviews.

Y&Y really stands for Yum & Yummier.

Great ribs.

I was just out in Chicago for a business trip and someone suggested Carson's ribs. Their website is even Ribs.com. The ribs weren't bad, but I immediately thought Yak & Yeti was so much better.

This was our first time eating at Yak & Yet in Dec 2009 & I LOVED it. I had the Crispy Mahi-Mahi & it was awesome, as well as the veggies that come with it !!! I had the mango pie for dessert, YUM!!!

We also filled out a comment card on our table because our server was GREAT & was very patient with my son's needs since he has ASD. The restaurant is also very beautiful !!!

This is on our MUST DO LIST again in Dec 2010 !!! :santa::santa::santa:

We've also eaten at Yak & Yeti and really enjoyed the food. I have had the sesame chicken and the ribs and DH had the Mahi Mahi. All the meals were really good, but the best part is the desert. I love the fried wontons, IMHO it is the best desert in all of Disney.

Yak and Yeti Table Service is one of our must do's. After our last trip we had the best meal there along with at Jiko of the trip, it was soooo good. We haven't tried the CS though, so don't know what that's like.

Glad you enjoyed it :goodvibes

The wife and I really enjoyed our meal there in October. It was a pleasant surprise after reading such negative reviews.

Yes I noticed this, actually we ate at both Yak and Yeti and Saana and felt that the decor at Y&Y would have been a better fit if the food were from Saana. That being said the meal we had was acceptable. My crusted Mahi Mahi was flaky and crusty. The sauce it was served with was IMHO delish. DH got the combo lomein, and although it was good, it was missing a flavor, maybe a sweet or a spicy taste.

We will eat there again although the food at Saana was a million times better :lovestruc
