Has anyone been to the Yak and Yeti recently and what was your honest opinion of it? Would you suggest lunch or dinner? It wasn't there during our last trip so we know nothing about it other than what I've read in reviews...but would like the opinions mainly of people who have experienced the restaurant recently. Thanks!! :)

I ate there in June and I will NOT be returning. Service was horrible. Both our server and a manager treated my food allergy in a flippant manner. I found the food sub par as well. Gak and Yucky as I call it, is not operated by Disney. And that was noticeable to me. Many people like it, but I did not. If anyone in your party has a food allergy insist on a chef coming to speak to you. I was told the chefs were too busy to speak directly to me.

We ate there in June and loved our entrees and drinks. Click on my June reviews and you will find a ton of pics and full review

We ate there in Feb. 2008 and can't wait to return in 2 weeks!!!:cool1:
Both DH & I proclaimed it our best meal of our trip. We loved the wok fried green beans, duck, dessert wontons and a yummy bloody mary.

We had great service and DS had a nice kids meal which was real chicken strips.

Try everywhere once for yourself.

My mom and I ate there in April year and we got:
Share:fried green beans
DM-Dim sum
Me-tempora Shrimp
share-fried wontons
The food tasted good going down. Very very Yummie! The Tempora shrimp wasn't as good as it used to be in the old Lounge in Japan, but still not bad.
We both have stomach problems however and let's just say a few hours later our stomachs were  .
I would eat there again, but go easy on the fried foods, but they were good:rolleyes1

My family and I ate there in April. Some dishes were good, some miss the mark. The adult beverages were all good :thumbsup2 . I am soo glad that there is another TS option at AK now. I am sure that has this new restaurant "breaks-in" it will improve. As I said our visit was so so, but OP's love it and have returned several times.

To be fair there probably isn't a DW restaurant that I haven't encountered at least one bad experience at and stayed away from it for a few trips. Then given it another chance and absolutely loved it. (including my raw chicken experience at CG) Right now I've sworn off Citricos for a while.

So if you are excited by Y&Y and like the menu, go and enjoy!

We ate lunch at Yak & Yeti in early August and we both enjoyed it.

I had the dim sum basket with a side of the wok-fried green beans; DH had the crispy honey chicken; we shared the sorbet trio for dessert. I found everything to be very tasty and the portions were large; service was decent, no complaints really but nothing outstanding.

Overall, I think I would eat here again just to try something different. If you want this type of food but want to take up less time (and save a little money) then I would definitely suggest the Yak & Yeti counter service. Though the menu obviously isn't as extensive, they serve many of the same things that you would find at the table service. We ate here as well and found the food to be very good, very fresh and the portion sizes were great - very filling. DH had the sweet and sour pork and I had the shrimp lo-mein. I'd definitely recommend them both.

It's OK for lunch, but I wouldn't do dinner there. Food is mostly Chinese, portions are average, to small. They have a good beer selection.

We went for lunch when it first opened... we felt the appetizers were good, the entrees not great and we decided to let them work the kinks out before trying it again..

DH and I were able to get a bar seat on both of our last trips and it was great. Very relaxing and we were able to eat appetizers (Dim Sum Basket, Lettuce Wraps, and Fried Green beans - all very good) and enjoy some different beers. The bartender was very nice - same guy on both trips. The restaurant behind us seemed a bit hectic and it was great not to wait in line and then eat at a table - the bar was much nicer. It does have limited seating, so you have to linger around a bit. Most people have not caught on that you can actually eat at the bar and just hang out there until their table is ready, so the wait usually is not long at all.

Best part - our kids are old enough where we could send them over to Pizzafari for their own lunch and then meet up when we were all done. We have no interst in doing pizza in Disney but they love it - so it works out for all of us.

We ate there for lunch on Aug. 23 - a party of 6. Service was ok (we were seated very promptly at our 12:30 ADR time) - no errors, but the meal pace was a bit slow. We got our drinks and the pot sticker appetizer quickly, but there was a gap then before the rest of the meal came, and another gap before dessert arrived. Now some people might like this as part of a more leisurely pacing - and I think it would be more fitting at dinner - but for lunch, I think they should have been faster. (Work lunches downtown are often paced quite quickly to get people in and out.... but I know that is not the model.)

We liked our food, there were some shirmp tempura, a lo mein, a kid's burger, and sweet & sour chicken and a salmon. Desserts were good too - I had the fried wontons, but was really too full to have more than a taste. Someone got a brownie sundae too.

Food was fine - Asian themed, but not too unusual, but service could have been faster, but was error free and pleasant.

We ate there August 5th for lunch and it was quite yummy! We ordered some sweet and sour chicken, two orders of pot stickers, the beef and broccoli and two kids meals. We didn't have an ADR but we were able to just walk right in. (it was awfully hot outside and all the rides that day were either not working temporarily or the wait was 90 minutes or more...we needed to get indoors quickly!) If you love chinese food, then you should be pleased with the food. There are a lot of nut-based stuff though, so if you have a peanut allergy, then tell the server asap. :)

We ate there in Janurary and it is now my husband favorite WDW resturant. So much that we are palning a short trip in Dec. and only 1 park and we have chosen AK so we could eat at Y&Y. The only thing that he didn't like from appetizer to dessert was his chicken tamrinda(sp?)

We had egg rolls(AN ORDER IS 2) and lettuce cups for appetizers and the 2 orders for low mein(1 order would have fed both teenagers) and I had the baby back ribs and they were out of this world. Dessert were sundaes and I can't remember what else.

mY HUSBAND IS STILL TAKING ABOUT HOW GREAT THE FOOD WAS.:woohoo:

We ate there last week and I would have to say it was the worst meal of our trip. It wasn't all bad but if I had to pick a worst, this was it.

We had the wonton soup, fried green beans and potstickers for appetizers. These were Ok, especially the green beans. Soup was a bit flat, needed salt.

DS got the ribs with chicken fried rice. I got the beef and broccoli. My beef had a strange consistency and just an awful fish taste. Maybe the chef went too heavy on the fish sauce. I liked DS's rice, he thought it was just ok. He said the ribs were good ... not the best or worst that he's ever eaten.

Desserts were the mango pie (we didn't like this at all) and the cream cheese wontons which I enjoyed but DS did not.

All in all, I don't think we would go back.

This is also on our list of resturants we want to try so I'm very happy that rsvp_mm asked for the reviews. They have been helpful for us too. Thank you.

We ate here on 8/14. My take on this restaurant is that it has good appetizers and desserts and average entrees. The fried green beans and pot stickers were very good (especially the green beans). Others in our party also enjoyed the prawn flavored crisps. The entrees, on the other hand were fairly unmemorable. I had the chicken lo mein and DH had the crispy honey chicken. The were about what we'd get at our local Chinese restaurant. Not bad, just nothing special. We split the mango pie for dessert and it was very good. Frozen beverages were also enjoyable. So, we decided that if we returned we'd likely get apps. and dessert with drinks. If you're big on standard Chinese food it's probably worth a try.
