DCL is coming to Europe next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I already called my mom to tell her the great news, to tell her the slightly less great reality of the price (though category 11-12 are not too bad, and I don't need a room with a view, since I never spend time in my room!!) and tell her I want to go on the 10-day cruise that departs on July 18, because then I can celebrate my birthday with Mickey Mouse on July 19!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow - are you really planning to go Sandra?!! :Pinkbounc

It does sound tempting - but it's just too long and too expensive for us at the moment. :sad2:

Well, I looked at the prices. For a 10-night cruise in stateroom cat. 12 (the cheapest, with other words), the lowest rate is something like $2300. Which, IMO, isn't too bad at all... or at least, that was it until some further research.

A first negative point for the cruises are the ports of call. Why on earth did they choose those????? I have already been to a couple of those places.
Next, I looked up some rates for Caribean cruises with DCL, and with airfare, that comes close to the same price as the Med one, and I think I prefer the Caribean cruise then, you never know I can meet some sexy pirates (yeah, sure, dream on!)

So, actually, I don't know yet if I will do it. Maybe yes, maybe no.
It will also depend whether I can book the cruise for two adults, without specifying who will accompany me. As the situation is now, I'll go with my mom. If by that time I am able to find a boyfriend/ fiance/ husband, I'd go with him. If by then there is something going on with my grandparents, my mom can't leave, and I'll have to go with e.g. my brother, ...
If I have to say NOW who will accompany me, it's virtually impossible for me to book it.

But yes, I seriously am thinking about it. And before you all think I'm a millionaire: if I do it, it will be in category 11-12 (I don't need a view to sleep or to shower, and that are the only two things I usually do in my room when on vacation!) I am single, no kids, still live with my parents, so no huge costs for rent, I have a rather well-paid job, ... In case I would have my own little family, I wouldn't do it. At all, because it would come out as too expensive (unless my DH-to-be is a multi-millionaire, ah, you never know!)

That's where I went wrong!!! :rotfl:

If it is something you really want to do it, it seems a good idea to do it while you have no kids yet. At least when you have kids then you have already have done it :) .

Only thing is if you would rather visit the caribbean then why not do that one instead never know you might bump in to Johnny Depp ;) .

The cruise does not really appeal to me as I don't like the idea of having to stick to someone else's itinerary. I like to choose where I go my self.
I'd much rather use the money on a deluxe hotel at wdw.

I usually also don't like the idea of having to follow an itinerary (did I forget any letters in that word?), but I DO like the idea of being "trapped" on one boat with Mickey Mouse!

I haven't been on a cruise yet (no, that's not true, I cruised on the Nile, and I have been many times on the Jungle Cruise! Ah, six days and seven romantic nights with that cute skipper  back to reality now!) and would really like to do it, and I would LOVE to go on a Disney-cruise. With DCL coming to Europe, I like dthe idea of avoiding high airfare to Florida. But I had hoped for Greek islands, Turkey, Malta, Kreta, places like that...

The more I think about it (about 1 hour, lol), the more I... don't like the idea anymore. Oh, such difficult decisions to take!!!!

Oh, and btw, there is no way I am able to spend money to a deluxe hotel at DLP or WDW. I sleep with my eyes closed, and when I shower, I usually don't wear my contacts, so there is no way I'll see anything of the nice place. I can as well stay in a value, and stay twice as long!

I was not suggesting that is what you should spend money on. I was just saying that I'd rather stay in a nice hotel at wdw than go on the cruise as to go on the cruise would cost me twice as much as wdw and I don't think it worth the money for the places that it stops at. :)

I'd been following the thread on both the DCL and UK boards, but alas we will not be considering this.

Hopefully it will lead to some extra visitors to DLP which will increase the profile of the parks :goodvibes

And the decision has been made: we are not going
I am partly :( and partly just :sad2: because it means I'll have that more money to go somewhere else. I would love to do the cruise, but not with those ports.
Oh well, I had an illusion for a couple of hours I was going to cruise.

I think I am still going to cry for some hours now...

Sandra, if I were you I'd go for the Caribbean cruise: better weather and lovely & tropical!

Yes, I know, that is what my mom and I also said.
If the Med cruises had been Santorini, Kusadasi, Kreta, ... we would go immediately. But I am not paying all that money for France, Spain and Italy.
Pirates of the Caribbean, here we come, someday, and Johnny Depp better be there on a deserted island with plenty of rum!

Sounds Ideal especially the Johnny Depp part.

Thank You

We will not be going but the ship is calling here on both repositioning cruises so I will at least get to see it.

That's an idea, do a Barcelona city trip when the ship will be there, so I'll get to see it and wave to Mickey!!!!!
