Here's our review from our Dec. trip. Yachtsman remains one of our favorites!
Dinner Yachtsman Steakhouse, Yacht Club
The Yachtsman is one of our favorite restaurants at Disney, and we go every trip. We usually go near the end of our vacation as a kind of send off. We were 15 minutes early for our 8pm PS b/c we were there to get the Happy Holidays pins. Contrary to normal Yachtsman style, we werent ushered into the lounge to wait, but only asked to wait in the chairs area. We only waited about 2 or 3 minutes before being taken to our table.
The past 2 or 3 visits to the Yachtsman weve just gotten bad tables. I dont know what it is. This trip was no exception. We decided to stay, though, b/c we had the same server wed had from our March trip, a very nice, friendly young man named Zach. The only real hitch to the evening is that we spent so long chatting w/ Zach that they ran out of the sweet onion rolls, and those are my favorite! A group seated after we were got some of the rolls, but we didnt b/c we were chatting. Too darn friendly for our own good, we are. But no, it was worth it.
Anyway, we decided to forego an appetizer this time. Mom ordered the filet mignon and I got the Land and Sea, which is two small filet medallions and a (huge) lobster tail. When I say huge, I mean huge. Id hate to see the lobster that sucker was attached to. The medallions had a cabernet wine sauce which created a nice, mellow contrast to the sharp bleu cheese also served on them. The mashed potatoes w/ both our meals were wonderful. We really like mashed potatoes. And filet mignon. Both of our steaks were excellent, btw, and we enjoyed them thoroughly. Our verdict, though, was that the best steak we had all week was at Tchoup Chop.
For dessert we ordered the dessert sampler. I love dessert samplers. It had white chocolate macadamia nut pie (our favorite!); raspberry sorbet (very, very smooth, not too sour); key lime pie (tart, smooth, yummy); Jack Daniels chocolate mousse (much better than we remembered, very delicious); and an excellent crème brulee. Again, a wonderful choice if you cant make up your mind on which dessert to order!
