My DH LOVES steak and I thought it would be a nice treat to make a ressie for here one night...the problem??

Well, I see it has a childrens menu, but is it child friendly? I just don't want to walk in and there be NO children...

Thanks for the info...

Don't know how old a child you are referring to, but I have seen kids in there...around 10 - 12 years old. I have never seen anything stating that children are not allowed. It is a great steakhouse. Have fun!

We took our then 6 year old there last year. They treated her wonderfully. They have a cool kids dessert - it's a white chocolate puzzle that they get to paint. We saw lots of kids there.

Pretty much all WDW restaurants are "child friendly."

I would encourage you to think about your children and how they handle restaurants. I've not been to Yachtsman's yet, but many of the signature restaurants are about an hour and a half experience. Are your kids likely to get bored, get up and run around the restaurant, annoy other diners, etc.? Are they likely to start screaming and wailing by being made to sit in their chairs that long? These things have happened to me at WDW restaurants and I didn't appreciate it.

My children are well behaved and have always been expected to stay seated until everyone is finished...this is a nightly rule at our home. However, I guess perhaps we should wait and try this restaurant when the children are a little older. ( They will be 4 and 2)

Thanks everyone!

This is Disney..kids are invited EVERYWHERE (well, maybe not at V & A).

I was there last year with a....

4 year old
6 year old
9 year old
11 year old
14 year old
17 year old

(no, not all mine!!)

There were other kids there too..it was not an issue at all.

We were at the Yatchsman Steak house on Tuesday and there were plenty of children. They were all well-behaved, some exceptionally so. (We commented on the teenagers and preteen at the table next to us who made it a point to carefully push in their chairs when they left without direction from their parents.)
We are firm believers in giving children the experience of eating in nice restaurants and guiding them in the proper etiquette to go with the experience.

Kids are in all the Disney restaurants except V&A.

I have a story about how kid friendly the Yachtsman was for me.

My DD was 9 months old. Usually the kind of child I could take anywhere.

For some reason when we were seated at the Yachtsman she started to freak out about the high chair. It was very unusual. She was fussing a little and clinging to me.

I never stayed in a restaurant if she fussed and she would fuss every time i tried to put her down. I wasn't interested in trying to eat a filet mignon with one hand so we got up to leave.

The waitress came after us and said that it was ok they would get her some crackers right away and we didn't have to leave.

I know my child and I just knew she wasn't going to behave that evening so we did leave but I really appreciated that waitress and how nice she was.

We ended up with room service that night!

She is now 8 1/2 and 17 trips later I can take her anywhere!

Yachtsman is very kid friendly. It's a louder restuarant and we've always seen tons of kids in there. We've taken my niece and nephew several times. You'll be fine. There's really only 1 place kids are not allowed that's V&A and one place where there is no kid's menu - bistro de paris (upstairs france restaurant). Everywhere else is fine.

Children 10 and older are allowed to dine at Victoria and Albert's. However, there is no children's menu.

Thank you everyone! It must have been V&A I was thinking about! I knew that there was a specific "geared toward adults and older children" restaurant, but wasn't sure which one.

I will plan on giving it a try and see how it goes. We will try and schedule it for earlier in our trip before the kids start getting worn out!:)

I'm not sure I'd agree with this.

We were there last week. It was pretty busy when we were seated, but you could almost hear a pin drop. It was very quiet, the room was dimly lit and it seemed more suited for a romantic dinner than a family dinner.

There were many kids there, but they were all well-mannered. No running around the restaurant, no loud voices. Every restaurant at Disney (with the exception of V&A) is "kid-friendly," but that doesn't mean that it's meant for kids to be running around and shouting. Well-behaved kids fit in ANYWHERE at Disney.

The only signature dining we did last week where it was noisy, busy and there were kids running around everywhere was California Grill. At 9:30pm. Go figure.

It can be a lengthy meal. We were there in June, and while I didn't time it, I am sure we were there a few hours. However, it sounds like your kids are used to sitting at the table so they should be fine. I say go and enjoy yourselves.
