Yachtsman steakhouse or flying fish???

My mom and I (both adults) are having trouble deciding on a first night dinner for our February trip. Anyone have advice on flying fish versus yachtsman? We can only fit one in on our trip schedule

Personally, I go to a steakhouse for "meat" and a seafood restaurants for "fish & seafood".

Both are good, depends on what you're both in the mood for!

Faves at Yachtsmen, Charcuterie Platter, Strip Steak, Braised short ribs, Creamed spinach (yum), sauteed mushrooms

Faves at FLying Fish, Sesame Calamari, Tuna Tartare, Potato Wrapped Snapper, Pan Roasted FLounder (yum!)

Sure all restaurants offer a bit of everything to suit all customers, but I tend to stick with the speciality of the restaurant!

Both are very good so this is a question with no wrong answer. I'd take a look at the menus here on the DIS and decide which appeals to your individual tastes.

That's a tough one. FF and Yachtsman were our two favorites this past trip. I think Yachtsman was a little better. The service was outstanding at YS, whereas we had a very dull waiter at FF this time.

Our 2 favorites in that area. Push come to shove I'd probably go with, Flying fish, my loves their fish entrees & I've had an excellent steak there as well. But I do love the Filet a Yachtsman.

I was in this same boat on my last trip and trust me this is a very good problem to have lol both of these are restaurants are good! We ended up choosing Flying Fish and I do not regret it at all

I like Yachtsman a lot so don't get me wrong you cannot make a wrong decision... however the atmosphere at Flying Fish is more my taste and I like the apps and desserts better too

(PS this trip I have both scheduled because of how much I enjoy them both )

I personally prefer Flying Fish.

The menu is more diverse (with better apps and desserts IMO), the restaurant decor is more unique and appealing, and food presentation is better.

Yachtsman has an excellent filet but I like the snapper and steak entrees at Flying Fish just as much if not more.

Flying Fish there is pretty high probability if you are wiling to sit at the bar which is actually a lot of fun...

Yachtsman does not accept walk ups until after 8:30 PM

But don't forget the $10 PP surcharge if you do not show up to your reservation...

I think we may be truly gluttonous and try both haha! We are thinking of going to flying fish as soon as it opens and splitting 2 apps or 1 entree and then having a very late full dinner at yachtsman we just have to make sure not to eat at all that say beforehand haha

I think that sounds like a fantastic idea

If you like Mussels or Calamari they are fantastic at FF honestly the best I have ever had anywhere!!!

Have a great time it'll be fantastic...

PS if you want to get real crazy you could even go to Beaches and Cream for dessert
