Yachtsman seating issues

We stopped into Crew's Cup last night for an after Illuminations snack and drink, about 9:40ish. There were a zillion (ok, we counted seven, but seven is a lot that late) of parties still waiting to be seated at steakhouse. From the interractions you could not avoid overhearing, some of these folks were there for an hour or more...and very unhappy. What seemed to be a floor manager (or whatever that would be called) from Yachtsman kept coming in to apologize table by table, but she was getting no love. Didn't sound like she had much of an explanation.

Later we asked our bar server what was up, she said it's been jammed up like that for about 3 weeks, most nights, no idea why. But that folks in the bar are annoyed and testy.

Maybe it's F&W? Hopefully they will work it out. Does not seem like the cc hold is needed there, or is going to help.

It seems like the cc hold here could even cause some problems. If I had made an ADR and then had to wait over an hour that late at night, I would be asking them to cancel my ADR and then I'd go elsewhere. If they then tried to charge my cc, I'd be even more unhappy.:rotfl: If people got mad and left, I wonder if they'd then charge them as a 'no show' when their name was called. After all, they did check in at the podium.:confused3 With cc guarentees being required at so many restaurants now, more people are going to be showing up, which means wait times are going to be longer for everyone next year.

Could also be staffing issues. Most restaurants will have some back-up cooks, servers, etc when a couple of regulars decide to call in sick. Maybe not the YSH?

It's probably a combination of things. Maybe there was a big convention going on, plus some staffing issue, maybe some training going on in the kitchen that might have slowed things down a little - any one of these could cause a small back up, but if you have a combination of two or more small issues, combined with the fact that Disney traditionally overbooks their ADR's, there is the potential for problems.

The bad thing with a signature restaurant is you can't really hurry the patrons, so if they want to nurse a cup of coffee and chat for an hour or so, you're pretty much stuck dealing with it, even if it does mean the next party is delayed.

Considering how empty the restaurants have been this week, I'd guess YSH has staffing issues.
