Yachtsman review needed!

This is a great post. We are going to eat here in December and you all have made me really look forward to it. Thanks! Only problem is I am hungry right now!

Nice to be part of the board. My DGF has been on here for a while and is Disney mad and i think im getting into it just as much. I'll make sure and see if we can get Mark or Riccardo as our servers for the meal since i've heard good things about both.

Just thinking can you request people? or is it something your not supposed to do?

Sorry, but we had a horrible time at the YSH. When we said we didn't drink wine and did not like alcohol with our meal our server developed an attitude problem. The meals came out and were served to the wrong people and had been mis-plated (wrong side with steak). Then we had one over cooked and one undercooked steak (they should have been exactly the same as each other). The meat was not of a very high standard. And after all that, the same server refused to ask us how our meal was, became even more rude and had the cheek to circle the tip. I managed to drag my brother out of there without making a scene. Go to Jiko instead.

You should have asked for a Manager - the only way they can fix a problem is if they are told food or server.

You can request a server - sometimes it can be a bit to get who you want if all their tables in their section is full so it depends on your time schedule.

Ah, thanks for the feedback Lisa. Like i said when i first asked about YSH, DGF and i had heard alternating feedback on the place. Out of interest was this a recent visit to the restaurant? do you remember who the server was? I see from your sig you've only just been over to WDW in Sept. We're staying at POP too, how did you find it?

I too hate to be a voice of dissent, but I don't care for the YSH.

Our filets were chewy. They were cooked to the correct temps and looked quite lovely, but a filet shouldn't be chewy. When we complained, we were met with a definite attitude and the manager asked us if we had ever had a filet before. Such condescension is unforgiveable. We told her to take the meals off the check and we would dine elsewhere. That is exactly what happened without an "I'm sorry" or "go **** yourself". A horrible night all the way around that will NOT be repeated.

True what you say Tink901. If we did have a problem i know full well DGF would be making a complaint. Since she worked as a server in Epcot years ago she has a good idea on how the servers should be working and if she had a problem she would be asking for the manager straight away! lol

O and i'm not trying to cause any problems with my questions as well. Just though would be nice to get some views all in one place, and definitive ones since we're going in only a week. Thanks too everyone for your replies as well.

Absolutely. We just aren't used to complaining and I felt silly complaining over the first two points. It wasn't until my steak came out nearly moo-ing that we thought a quiet word to the manager would be in order. By the end of the meal none of us thought we would be able to speak to the manager calmly and did not want to ruin other people's dining experience that evening.

It is pretty bad if even a manager doesn't seem to care about your problems. I think what i'm seeing is that it can go either way.

Well the advice is welcomed from all so i guess we'll have a think and see how it goes when we go on holiday.

We ate there on the 18th of September this year. It was actually the most anticipated. We had two servers (but really only saw the female server) but cannot remember either of their names.

If you don't expect too much from POP it can be great. I love the slushie machines and have never really found it too noisy even though we faced the computer pool. For the price, it is great value considering it is in Disney.

YSH is something that we've been anticipating, i think thats why i wanted to make sure it was worth it.
As for POP - not expecting the Ritz lol We know its gonna be a value resort but does look fun. Glad to hear you didnt find it too loud, was wondering about that. Can't wait to get over there. I've never been so gonna be a big thing for me, plus bday while we're over there so all good. We've got YSH booked for my bday on the 27th. So another reason i wanted to check it out.

I see my gf aint the only person addicted to Stitch ! lol

I do think you may request a server. Ricardo gave us his card so we can coordinate schedules and plan to dine on an evening he will be working next year. The restaurant manager also gave us his card (I chatted with him briefly to compliment him on our wonderful dining experience). He said if I need assistance in the future to let him know. We could not have been more pleased with our meal.

I'm working on my Yachtsman Steakhouse review right now, it should be up soon. I loved my meal there though, and the service was fantastic, best all week.

Loved, loved, loved The Yachtsman! Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. We were celebrating my birthday, so I felt our server was very attentive. (don't know if that had anything to do with it!)
