Hi All,

My DGF and i are going over to WDW on the 26th Oct. We've got a reservation already for the Yachtsman Steak House.

Thing is i've been looking around on the forum and i've seen some good and some not so good reviews on the place.

The main problem seems to be the service.

Also my DGF's family have only just got back from WDW and they didnt have a great experience at YSH. Their service was terrible.

Now i was really looking forward to going but am worried that with the cost it might be a waste of money, soooo can anyone offer any recent reviews so i can finally make my mind up :-)

Cheers in advance

D

We went to Yachtman's on Sept 22. I am still working on my dining reviews and that is one of the last on my list. But, here is a quicky. We went on our last night at Disney, 4 of us, me, DH, DD 4.5 and DS 2.5. DH had the 24oz porterhouse, I had the prime rib, DD had the children's steak. The meat was amazing. They have a butcher there, so you can always get a bigger or smaller piece of meat with no issues. Our waiter was very attentive and he accommodated us in everyway. Since DS was not on the dining plan, we asked if he could have one of our desserts and he took care of it. Also, when we didn't like something, he offered to replace it with something else.

This was one of two places DH requested we go back to on our next trip.

I have dined there 4 times in the past 4 years, and have always had amazing experiences...food and service. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

KatMark thanks for the link - can't believe i missed one! :-) Its a real good review.

abc999 - sounds like you had a really nice time. We're booked in for 8:15 on the 27 Oct - my bday. It's looking more likely that we'll go rather than not go. The food does sound real nice and looking at the link that KatMark supplied it looks amazing. I'm not worried about the cost as long as its worth it.

Thanks CamColt, 4 out of 4 sounds good :-)

The place does look real nice and was hoping to have a real nice meal DGF and i.

We go twice a trip every year and have never had bad service yet. Yes some servers are better then others but overall they are all all above average. They have always done little extra things to make our meal a great experence.

We ate there in the summer and had the best meal out of all the ones we had in WDW in YSH!!! Would def recommend it!!!

OMG...YS was the HIGHLIGHT dinner of our trip! :thumbsup2 The food was just OUTSTANDING and our waiter...Riccardo gave us superior service (his tip showed him!!!). We were on the dining plan...but ended up paying another $200 approx. So the total for four (two adults and two teens) did exceed $400 that nite (Yes we did order one bottle of wine.) If you plan on going...ask for Riccardo and tell him his friends from NY say hi :hippie:

We LOVE the Yachtsman Steakhouse and we eat there EVERY trip! We have never had a problem. Enjoy!

I am also working on getting my dining reviews up, but I will tell you the YS was 1 of the top 2 restaurants this trip. We had John for a server and also had an assistant server, but I forgot her name unfortunately. They worked as a great team making sure the wine was poured, drinks were refilled and courses were served at proper times.

The food was outstanding-my mother wanted to go back lol. This was only our second time here and last year was great too. The steaks are dry aged right at the restaurant. My strip, DF's ribeye, and DM's filet were delicious-I know I tried them;) . The appetizers & desserts were also delicious, with the exception of the veal sweetbreads-I did not care for them. Cheese plate and salad were tasty. There was a special apple tart for dessert-it was a nice light portion of dessert.

The restaurant is decorated in wood paneling, wooden chairs, and white tablecloths. It can be a little loud with the cathedral ceiling in the middle, but it was very pleasant this time. We were seated in a smaller area facing SAB.

I hope you enjoy your visit :goodvibes

Thanks to you all for the advice. Looks like we are gonna go for it. It sounds too special to miss to be honest. I was well looking forward to it before and now even more so. We've had the reservation booked since the 180 days limit something like 6 months ago! so don't really want to miss out.

We're coming over from the UK so we're both mega excited. My DGF is a Disney Veteran, worked at the Rose and Crown a few years back and goes every year. I'm a newbie, so the thought of going to the YSH for such a stunning meal is really cool.

Thanks again for all the advice :-)

We had the pleasure of dining at YSH in August with Ricardo as our server. He is OUTSTANDING! :thumbsup2 I can not say enough good things about him. Our service was absolutely top notch, and we will request him when we return next August.

Everything was delicious. I will have to see if I can find my trip report and copy the YSH part to this thread. :)

Here are the pics of our dinner in August. :)

We've eaten there on each of our three trips together and loved it. Although I'll say I was disappointed this last time that I couldn't get the filet and lobster tail like before. But in the end it didn't matter. My Filet was fantastic and I was stuffed by the end. We've always had great service there as well.

Firstly must apologise for my one post as just Wizurd and not Welshwizurd. I only signed up earlier with Welshwizurd since Wizurd was already taken, i'd forgotten i'd signed up months ago with Wizurd ! lol my DGF thinks i'm losing it, i think she's right.

As for the replies the pictures look really nice!!!! Thanks Jackskellingtonsgirl. Thanks also Kt_mom and anyone that i've missed out.

One question that DGF wants to ask, did you find the filet mignon or ribeye fatty at all?

I will chime in-the filet mignon did not have any visible dangling fat on it after it was cooked. Most of the time they are fully trimmed other times a little external fat is left on to make it more juicy. The ribeye is fatty with a lot of external fat. It is basically a prime rib cut that is grilled rather than roasted. It is more flavorful than the filet mignon in my opinion, but the filet is more tender. So if slippery external fat grosses you out I would go with the filet or NY strip. I hope this helps. :)

Thanks LowesChevy. The fat isn't a major issue for me but DGF won't like it if theres too much fat hanging around. The NY strip steak does sound real nice.

Thanks all for the help. Only 1 week to go so cannot wait

Welcome to the Dis Welshwizurd! Great to have you with us.

DW and I really enjoy YS. I think you'll love it.:earsboy:

The Yachtsman hand cuts they steak daily and prepares all of their food fresh daily. We go at least once every trip it's our special treat. Always great food and service. Mark is an awesome server!!

The filet is so tender you can cut it with a fork!

Have a great trip!!! Enjoy!!
