Yachtsman or Le Cellier?

Dh and Ds (8) and I really like Le Cellier. My son likes steak so this is one of the few meals we all enjoy. We have never tried Yachtsman's. Is it as good? We have no interest in getting dressed up beyond nice short/polos for the boys. Would this be ok there?

We've gone in shorts and sandals.

I thought the steaks were pretty much the same in both. The service was better, and there's more room. At Le Cellier it felt like they were jamming as many as possible into the place!

It depends...I've been to both Le Cellier and Yachtsman.

Food: Both do a good job on the steaks (medium and medium-rare). I wouldn't give one the edge over the other unless you're looking for a specific cut of steak. Yachtsman has more options. The side dishes are better at Le Cellier (mushroom risotto compared to bone marrow).

Decor: Le Cellier has a more cohesive look in that it's a wine cellar. Yachtsman has a cowboy/nautical theme going, which is a little odd.

Atmosphere: Yachtsman is brighter and the tables are further apart. Le Cellier is darker and the tables are very close together.

Dress: Le Cellier is far more casual. Still, dress shorts and polos are fine at Yachtsman. You're more likely to find guests in dress clothes (or conference-goer attire) at Yachtsman.

Service: Le Cellier tends to be more of a mixed bag. Some times it's great; sometimes it needs work. Yachtsman is a resort Signature, so service should be consistently good.

Overall, I liked the food (sides and appetizers) better at Le Cellier, so that's where I would choose to return to. There was nothing wrong with Yachtsman, but it didn't really impress me enough to put it high on the "return to" list.

figment-thanks for the info, that is exactly what I was looking for! Bone marrow eh? lol

You're welcome! It's worth noting that side dishes often change (albeit the mushroom risotto at Le Cellier has been a long-term staple) and you can substitute a side from one dish for a side on another dish in most cases. So if I went back to Yachtsman, I would see what are the current sides and if bone marrow was offered, I'd find something else! :)

There are some things I like about Le Cellier Specifically the Dry Aged Ribeye with truffle butter and mushroom risotto -

However I prefer Yachtsman, better apps, great Mac and Cheese and Porter House and the creme brûlée is also good! I also love the views of storm a long bay and the Boardwalk and to top it off Ricardo is IMO the best waiter in Walt Disney World!

Having eaten at both, many times, I prefer the Yachtsman.

We generally have better service at the Yachtsman, it's not as crowded or cramped feeling, and for the prices, I want a more quiet dinner experience.

Le Cellier still has the theme park feel; not sure if it's due to the tables being so close or the fact that many people have all their theme park gear with them (clothing, cameras, shopping bags, etc).

The food has been excellent at both. The porterhouse I had at Yachtsman remains to be one of my favorite steaks I've had on property. Polo shirts and shorts would be just fine there.

True, the theme of Yachtsman is a little weird\confusing, but we've had nothing but great food every time.

Both are still great, If you asked a few years ago, before Le Cellier was two table service credits. I would say Le Cellier. But now all things considered , Service, Food quality , value . I would Ive to vote Yachtsman.

I still love the cheese soup, prezel bread and fillet with mushroom risotto at Le Cellier

Tough call. I personally prefer the menu at Le Cellier because I rarely order a full entree, so the salad/cheddar soup/pretzel bread combination is ideal for me. Not as many appetizers on the Yachtsman menu that appeal to me. Also, they have a cab franc by the glass at Le Cellier. Our kids prefer Le Cellier because our oldest loves the filet and they all think any restaurant in a park is better than a restaurant outside a park. All three of our boys have the same favorite restaurants at Disney: Le Cellier, Garden Grill and San Angel (only difference is they rank them in different orders!)

But I do like the relaxed atmosphere at Yachtsman, the windows, the spacing of the seating and the Crew's Cup lounge (great spot to get drinks and wait for your ADR!) As for the dress code, we used to always dress our boys in khaki shorts and polos for any signature, but have relaxed that a bit for in-park signatures. Khaki shorts and polos at Yachtsman are definitely fine. I definitely agree that it's a more relaxed and quiet atmosphere at Yachtman - still child-friendly - just not as busy.

While we enjoy both LC and YSH if paying OOP Shula's is much better.

Yachtsmen is the best steak place on property(owned and operated by Disney). Le Cellier is overrated IMO. Get the Filet, some black truffle mac & cheese, and Sam Adams beer flight. One of my favorite meals at WDW. Oh and thank you for caring what you look like when you go out to Disney’s version of “fine dining” here is looking at you CG...
