We arrive next Friday and we haven't made plans where to eat for dinner yet and we were thinking of the Yachtman's Steakhouse, I was wondering if anyone could give us some information on how good/bad the food and atmosphere is?
Thanks
We absolutely loved it! We made a PS the day of our Illuminations Cruise (the Sunday before Thanksgiving) and we're so glad we did! It's not inexpensive by any means, but well worth it! We bought a bottle of wine that normally sells for about $15 for $40, but that is to be expected. We had Antonio for our server and we ended up tipping him about 25% because he was so good. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant and would eat there again in a heartbeat. This was our one big splurge meal where price was no object. My only complaint is that entrees are only served with a starchy vegetable and salads are extra (not that I could have eaten one!) Here's the link for the menu.
Shula's, although pricey is a much better steakhouse. On the last couple of visits we felt the quality of the meat was not as good as in years past at YSH.
We ate at YSH once and like Mitch, I found it to be OK but not for the $$$$$. Shula's, although more money, felt like a better value for the service and food.
shulas is the best restaurant at wdw !! much better than the ysh ..we have eaten there 6 times and taken our 2 kids with us..both under 6yrs old. all 6 times with no probs at all

We never miss dinner at YS. The service and the food are wonderful, especially the roasted garlic. The atmoshpere is dark wood and Remington paintings on the walls. We find it quieter then most disney restaurants and have never had a bad meal there.
The food is good at Yachtman but the atmosphere is like the local Hotel restaurant rather than a steakhouse, IMHO. It is also bright rather than subdued lighting.
My DW and I went to YSH in Nov. We were both disappointed, considering the price. The steaks were, unfortunately, charcoaled on the outside. While DW loves eating a charcoal briquet for dinner, I was less than thrilled, especially since I ordered my steak medium.
The flavor of the meat was a step above standard chain steakhouse fare, but certainly much less than what I expected. The steaks were served very hot, but the baked potato I got was only warm and rather undercooked. My DW got au gratin potato which she declared very good.
The service was good; atmosphere was -- as joepoe said -- very bright. Even at our local LoneStar Steakhouse, they know better than to put 150 watt bulbs in every lamp!
We enjoyed the meal, but probably will not go back again. It was an interesting one-time experience. They could do better. (I've learned never to believe what the Travel Channel tells me anymore!!)
