How fancy is the Yachtsmans Steakhouse dress code? I know they dont want you to wear flip flops or tank tops but is there anything else? Are you allowed to wear jeans or shorts?

Yeah, you're allowed to. I've seen people there in jeans, sneakers and t-shirts. I personally would feel under-dressed in shorts, but it's permitted, provided they aren't cut-offs.

when we were there last Fall, only one couple was moderately dressed up out of about 20 tables...they were there celebrating their 1 yr. old's birthday. The woman had a sundress-type dress on, hubby and baby boy both had golf shirts & long pants (khaki type). That was the dressiest clothes I saw there beside the waiter's outfits.

Everyone else eating in the place was in nice shorts, capris, golf shirts or nice T's. Several ladies in tank-tops with spaghetti straps. And plenty of people had flip-flops or sandals on, too.

By the way, we had the worst steaks there...have had far better steaks at many of Disney's regular restaurants (like The Wave, Captain's Grill, The Turf Club, Kona Cafe, Grand Floridian CAfe, Coral Reef...and so on.)

We always enjoy dressing up when we go to any of the Signature restaurants at WDW. My DH thinks that is why they always seat us at the window when we go the Yachtsman. We look so GOOD it makes people want to eat there.:thumbsup2

We too, like to dress up when going to a Signature dining experience. It enhances the evening for us.
Now dressed up in this situation means I wear nice capris, a fancy blouse and nice sandals. DH and DS wear dress shorts, sport shirts and nice shoes.
Enjoy

I always were some type of dress to the signatures. My DH normally wears a short sleeve button down with either nice jeans or khakis.

Since you asked what is allowed, rather than what we wear, the answer is "yes", you are allowed to wear jeans & shorts. We've seen lots of people who appear to have just come from the parks - sweaty, stinky, crabby kids, shorts, flipflops, tshirts, jeans, shorts, etc., etc. Not even looked at funny by the staff - no problem for them getting seated.

We go to there often & we get the Porterhouse. Only once wasn't quite satisfied with the steak, but it wasn't bad. One time, the Porterhouse was the best steak we'd had anywhere. So like all Disney restaurants, consistency is lacking. I ordered the NY strip once & it was not as good as the Porterhouse.

FYI - I judge on tenderness, seasoning/taste, quality (no grizzle, etc).

Park dress is allowed at almost all the restaurants except California Grill and Vicki and Al's.

And the California Grill isn't that strict. Vicki and Al's is!

Actually park dress is okay at CG - all the signatures have the exact same wording regarding dress code. There is suggested wear and then items that are expressly prohibited. As long as you don't wear items from the prohibited list, you'll be golden.

Do not feel that you MUST dress up. If you like getting dressed up that is fine. If you don't that's okay too. We rarely change for dinner. DH wears khaki shorts and polo or hawaiian shirt all day and I usually wear a cotton dress all day - that is for parks and dinner.

I've seen lots of people there wearing jeans, polos, running shoes and even flip flops. I for one only wear dressier flip flops with my sun dresses and was never told no.
