My husband will usually wear a pair of nice shorts and a polo shirt when we go to the Yachtsman or any of the other "signature" dining place.

For a nice one like Yachtsman which has a dress code, he does wear a golf/polo type shirt with a collar even though I don't think it is required any more. He's never felt underdressed.
