Yacht vs. Beach

Trying to decide between the two. Basically can find concierge availability in Yacht one week and Beach the next. Think I may prefer the Beach Club, but would rather go the week prior when the Yacht club is available. Have YC rooms been renovated, or just the BC rooms? That would probably be enough of a reason to convince me to go with BC. Any other significant differences in experience? I know a slightly longer walk to Epcot from YC. Thanks for any advice, I am torn.:confused3

I think that only the BC rooms have been renovated so far.

We like the YC.

The walk (if you look at the overhead photos from lobby to lobby) is not really more than one minute farther (although it can seem like it at the end of the day).

The lobby is beautiful, and it's quieter here than at the BC.

YC/BC share restaurants and pools, so not much difference there...

I'd happily stay at either one!:)

Really appreciate the reply. Anyone know if the YC rooms are scheduled for the re-do? Really like the looks of the upgraded bedding and tv, etc. so will probably go BC if no chance of a new room at YC concierge.
Couple of minutes extra walk is not a real factor for us.
Thanks again for your help.

We stayed at the YC in Sept, and thought it was great. I don't know if the rooms have been renovated because I don't know what they were like before. However, there was a flat screen TV in there. It was a great room, a really comfy bed, and the bedding certainly seemed newer. I really liked the YC, and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We prefer the beach if we're not getting waterview but you can't beat a waterview at the yacht as it overlooks SAB, BWI, ect.
In 2007 we hated BWI, BC was full and they moved us to YCCL. The view from our room was enough for me to be happy just sitting on the balcony relaxing if the kids hadn't gotten antsy (keep in mind though that bc/yc is my favorite place to be anyway - the parks are just an added plus...)
I don't know that we could stay in a standard YC room again after being spoiled by that view. From the balcony, you could see both Illuminations at Epcot and Fantasmic fireworks from the studios at night. It was just beautiful! BC rooms don't overlook the pool and most are angled to just one direction or the other so, while we've stayed BC WV several times, I wouldn't pay extra for it on that side.

The lounges are laid out differently but essentially the same. Favorite CMs work at both resorts. It's really just the theme and decor. We've found YC to be a little quieter in the public areas but that's not a bad thing. BC has Art but you can always pop over and visit.

Posting the view from our balcony...

I like BC a little more than YC; I just like the energy found in the public areas of BC, not quite as quiet and "convention" feeling as I have found at YC.

Although the lounge offerering are the same on both, I prefer the YC club area over the BC club area. It's just a difference in layout and it is minor, but it is my preference.

The balconies are nicer at YC and definitely the water view rooms have a fantastic view there.

We stayed at YC Concierge and BC Concierge our last two trips, I preferred YC the room was nicer, the bed was much more comfortable and the lounge, food and service was better. That being said, they are not much different and I'd be happy to stay at either.

I was at the BC two weeks ago and the food offerings in the BC CL lounge were similar, but not quite as substantial, as the food offered in the YC CL lounge (at which I have stayed many times, most recently March 2008). This was especially true at breakfast, where the BC seemed to have much less food avilable.

Both resorts are great, but I prefer the YC for the quiet lobby and the full balconies. The difference in distance to Epcot, the DHS boat dock and the S/D is negligible and is not a factor in my decision.

Another vote for the YC here. It's where we've stayed our last 2 trips (CL) and we'll be there again in January. Ditto what pp said about the lounge and view. Distance from Epcot is a non-issue. :)

OK, I hope that I made the right decision after reading all this! Here's what happened with me - just booked today through a very, very good travel agent:

Husband and I are in our late 30s, no kids - have had my heart set on the YC for several months. However, BC had a Club room available and I decided to go that route because 1) Club rooms/lounge don't have as many kids (and we'll need a break after the parks), 2) breakfast lounge is a big deal for the husband, and 3) the wine and cheese will be nice when 1 of us is showering and getting ready for dinner and the other is waiting. I figure that the minimal cost difference (it was about $250 for our 6 night/7 day stay) was worth it in breakfast and a cocktail per day alone.

The only 'negative' I forsaw in the YC was that it would be a little too stiff for my liking.

I asked a silly question but re-read and get it now....duh me!!

I've only stayed BC so I can't comment on differences. I do love the BC though and doubt I'll ever find out how the YC is (not by my choice anyway) since I never want to switch!

Well, after many good suggestions and much thought ended up rebooking at the Yacht Club, one week earlier than my previous Beach Club Resv. In the end it came down to not wanting to go the week leading up to Memorial Day weekend. Since BC was not available for the prior week, I think the YC wins out due to scheduling alone. I am hoping that at least the Concierge level rooms get the redo before May, but can live with the old picture tube tv if not. Really looking forward to the stay. Have only done Concierge once (poly) and loved it, the 4-3 deal makes it "do-able" again. Thanks for all the advice.
:cool1:

Our family loves the YC! I wouldn't worry too much about if the rooms have been redone or not. When given the choice of BC or YC, my husband would have nothing to do with BC, too many little ones for him (yes we have kids!).:flower3:

Having never stayed at the BC but always at Yacht Or BWI. If it was between Yacht & Beach it would be Yacht Club. BC is too noisy for us too many kids no offense to those who have kids :)
Yacht Club is not due for rehab until middle of 2009. The Club level I was told wasn't going to be done until June 2009 all subject to change. But the rooms are still quite nice. We stayed in the club level BWI this past Sept & the rooms were nice but you could still smell the rug glue so they told me what the smell is so if you have really bad allergies a new rehab room might not be for some. After a few days it wasn't as bad as when we first went in the room. I didn't find the Yacht Club to be too stiff. But each to their own. MHO.
I think the OP made the right choice:)

We prefer the BC over the YC by far. On our last stay, we stayed on the end closest to EPCOT and we were literally 2-3 minutes from being inside EPCOT.

The decor of BC is more pleasing to us as I'm not much for darker areas. BC is light and airy and has more of the relaxing furnishings like you would find at a beach resort. YC reminded me of being in a lawyer's office where you have to sit up right since your back won't ever reach the back of the stiff leather couch!!!

Additionally, at BC, there is Cape May Cafe, the Marketplace, and Art!!!

We will definitely be staying at BC again!!!
