Yacht club or wilderness lodge?

Do you mind sharing why the bunk beds did not work?

I'm sure it was just my particular family cause lots of people like the bunk beds. I have 2 girls and they both sort of felt claustrophobic in the lower bunk (it did seem small) so DH ended up sleeping in it, and he can sleep ANYwhere so it was fine. Many people comment they like the bunks, so definitely don't go by my family! :)

Thank you for sharing. We have two daughters also, ages 11 and 13. We will be staying in a bunk bed room starting this Saturday. My older daughter is tall, about 5’7”, so hopefully she will fit.

After your trip, please come back and tell us which you preferred. Wilderness Lodge is easily my favorite resort and I've never stayed at Yacht Club, but I have stayed at Beach Club and Boardwalk and loved both of them. Yacht Club is also just so beautiful. Looking forward to hearing your opinions on both resorts.

We are back! Both resorts were fantastic (but no surprise there). The convenience of Yacht Club was wonderful, we found ourselves walking to Epcot for dinner several nights. And the ease of entry via the International Gateway was incredible. We walked right in every time. Also, the newly refurbished rooms put the current Wilderness Lodge rooms to shame. However, I wasn't impressed with the quick service food options at the resort itself. IMO, the Yacht/Beach Club may be a better option for an adults only trip. FYI - we had a garden view room at YC (#4098) - solid location with a view of the tennis court. Easy to get to the lobby, boat dock, and pool.

When we switched resorts mid-trip, it was immediately clear that Wilderness Lodge is our favorite resort. We had room #5043. We were upgraded to a courtyard view which was a nice surprise. The room does need a refurb, but that may just be because I was coming from such a great new room at YC. With young kids, we still spend the majority of our time at Magic Kingdom, and that will be the case for at least the next 5 years. The ease of transportation to MK is fantastic. We love a calm boat ride back to the resort at the end of the night. I thought Roaring Fork was very good this trip, and we had a few great meals at Geyser Point as well. We also prefer the WL pools to the Yacht Club. I found it hard to chase my son around SAB, especially since he can't swim yet. It will be a great option for him (and my baby) when they are older though.

We ended up taking the plunge and buying DVC - Copper Creek on this trip. We are excited to call WL home!

Love hearing about your trip! We are heading to Beach Club Villas in 2 days and then my parents will be staying an extra week at Wilderness Lodge. It is their first time at both resorts and I can't wait to hear their take on each. Thanks for reporting back. I have yet to stay at Yacht Club but have stayed at Beach Club. Your description of the rooms at YC make me want to stay there!

Do you mind sharing why the bunk beds did not work?
We've had Bunk Bed rooms at AKL and WL and it helps if the kid going on the top is still small/young/nimble. A taller child/teen/adult can find themselves rather close to the ceiling. It takes a bit of yogaing to climb into the top bunk. I think there is a "sweet" age spot for the top bunk. Too young, and it's not convenient for going potty in the middle of the night, and too old, they are too big to climb into it. But there is a sweet age spot when it's a lot of fun and it works out well (I would say 6 - 11 years?). Hope that makes sense! Something I like is that Bunk Bed is a reservable category, so you don't have to depend on what is available. Daybed is a request at YC and not all rooms have them.
