Yacht Club - Here We Come!

Well in a few hours we'll be leaving for the Airport Hotel in Philadelphia. Tomorrow morning, bright and early, we'll be on a plane for Orlando.

I'll let everyone know how it goes. Can't wait to get to Beaches and Cream and Stormalong Bay! This is our first trip ever not staying in a monorail resort for at least a split stay, but I do relish the thought of only packing/unpacking once.

Have a great trip! We'll be doing the same thing next month - never stayed "off the monorail" before, and we're spending five days at the YC.

Was at the YC for a conference back in late May.

The good news:

Very friendly staff, property is in good shape.

Stormalong wasn't too crowded (I was there during a transitional period, it is probably crammed now).

The so-so:

Long, LONG seemingly-endless walk to room - some of the hallways at the YC make the supposedly long ones at the Boardwalk look short in comparison.

Lots of smokers by the pool, and it's probably worse now given all the resorts are now 100% non-smoking indoors.

Waits at Beaches and Cream for counter service (during off hours) were unacceptably long, which only confirmed the argument I've heard that Disney blew it when they added the Beach Club DVC resort to the property. Why? They added no additional dining or recreational capacity to the resort, so both are now overloaded because of the additional "load" from thousands of time share guests.

The Epcot Resort area is the next best thing to a monorail! We love the Polynesian, I'd say it's our favorite resort but the YC/BC comes in a very close 2nd. You'll love walking to Epcot and MGM, or taking the Friendship if you so desire. Stormalong Bay and Beaches & Cream are wonderful. You're going to love it. In fact, we'll be at the Beach Club ourselves in just 27 days!

Maybe we'll see you there??? We leave Friday, but don't check into the YC 'til July 4 - 9.

We are doing a GF/YC split so we can have the monorail for a part of our vacation. The YC/BC/BW area is really fun, though. I am happy to be going!!
