I was just reading the All Ears newsletter and it mentioned that the Yacht and Beach Club will be remodeling, starting with the Yacht Club Concierge. Does anyone have any more details? When is it starting, when is it scheduled to complete? We wanted to stay at the YC Concierge next year, but if theres a lot of construction going on, I don't know. Any info?

Well, just an FYI...I just called the Yacht Club and they told me that the concierge remodeling is scheduled to start on July 1 and last approximately 2 months. Not sure about the beach club or other rooms though.

as you know, they are starting with the YC concierge floor, then they will complete one floor at a time at the YC, after the entire YC is complete, they will start on the BC, one floor at a time!

they plan on doing all the work very quickly!
they are getting all new furniture too! all wood, no more white at the YC, and no more verdigris beds at the BC, and all rooms will have mickey lamps like at the GF!!! :)

Laura :)

Minnie824,
They said it would take 2 months to rehab the concierge alone? That seems like a long time to me!

Are they changing the fabrics and colors of the bedspreads and drapes as well?

I read Deb Wills' All Ears newsletter a couple of weeks back that said that they were going to expand the YC Concierge lobby. I can "guesstimate" that that means either structural changes or putting in smaller furniture ;) , but the how was not mentioned.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YC RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are staying at the YC concierge August 23 - 27th, and while I have a great (CM) rate, I don't want to be listening to and watching construction the whole time I am there! My husband, on the other hand, would probably be in his glory (he is a contractor)!!
What do you all think I should do????
Should I try to get the BC instead? I really like the idea of a large balcony, tho...
HELP!!!!!

If they are actually making the concierge lounge physically bigger with construction, then I can understand the 2 month time frame. I just wonder why they chose to do the work during one of the busiest times of the year.

Has anybody heard about the refurb lately? Is it 2 months just for renovating the concierge level, or 2 months for the resort? I am interested because we are considering staying concierge level at the YC in late August.

I just got back from Yacht Club concierge last week and they have already started working on the rehab. We heard some hammering and sawing and asked one of the concierges what it was. They said that the concierge lounge kitchen was already starting to be remodeled. They also mentioned about the lounge expansion and said that they are going to tear down a couple of guest rooms in order to expand it. I personally thought that the lounge seemed large enough already but I guess that they want to make it even better.

We are staying at Yacht Club Concierge the week of 8/10. I spoke with a concierge staff member who assured me that the concierge floor would be completed by then. They anticipate the 5th floor will take about 3 weeks due to the expansion and the whole resort is scheduled to be completed in 2 months time.

I was concerned about the construction because we put up with that last November at the BWI. I got an e-mail from Guest Relations at the YC after I e-mailed them about my stay coming up from November 8th to November 13th. They told me they would be renovating the 1st floor rooms from Nov. 1 to Nov. 16 so I should request a high floor during my stay to be away from the construction. So, 2 months guess is way off folks. They will still be working at the YC in November! I will be sending them a letter like they requested and keep everyone posted with information as I get it.:D

I don't see how they could get done in 2 months. Just look how long they have been working on the BoardWalk. It has been more like two years! I assume they will be doing the outside as well as the inteiors as they have at the other resorts. They are lovely resorts, but we saw lots of peeling, chipped, and faded paint last week. Every time the wind blew, paint from the gutter above our balcony blew down on us.

At the BWI, they were doing exterior renovations as well.

At the Y&Bclub it is interior. I was told when I was there in May, that they are starting on July 1st w/the YC concierge floor, and plan on working quieckly. that each floor will only take 2-3 weeks each.
and then they will begin on the BC.

I dont think they plan on making this a long, drawn out project.

Laura :D

Well, they start July 1st and have all those floors to do. I was told by Guest Relations in my e-mail a week ago that their schedule showed the first floor being started on November 1st....they will start out on Floor 5 and work their way down. And , yes, they have been working on the BWI for well over a year.....I may just change my ressies to the BC instead and do YC when they are done.......that seems drawn out to me Laura...:(

Well, since they told me last week they would be STARTING the first floor rooms on November 1st......that seems pretty drawn out to me Laura. This was from Guest Relations and they specifically told me to send a letter requesting a high floor. I did it and am waiting for my response.

I agree, if the refurbishment at BW is any indication of time, the YC/BC which is just as large will take a lot longer than 2 months. BW refurbishment has been going on well over a year and as of last month when we were there they have not even started the villas with a Standard view yet!

Guest Relations has assured me that we should not worry about our reservation for a lake view concierge room July 14-16. And that all conciege facilities will be ready then, too. They said that we will be the first occupants of the room after renovation. Should I worry or try to get our reservation changed to another hotel???

I am very interested in this myself. We are staying there for the first time in August, I am emailing concierge to see what they say. I will probably stay there anyway, I stay at GF during renovations and it didn't bother us.

I will post my answers from concierge.
