My family is considering a trip down to WDW this summer for about eight days ( :cool1: ) and we're looking into some different resorts. Now, we've been to WDW before, staying at a bunch of different places, but I really would like our hotel experience on this trip (God willing we go) to be a good one, since this is my "last" trip before I head to college. But anyway, my dad suggested the Yacht and Beach Club. We've looked through it before and it seemed pretty nice. What I really need, though, are some first hand experiences. Any info I could get would be fantastic and greatly appreciated. Thank you! And it's good to be back on the Boards...

I have stayed at both the Yacht and the Beach Clubs. There really is not too much of a difference between the two other than decor. If you like nautical stuff, the Yacht Club is great. As it names suggests, the Beach Club rooms are decked out with beachy colors and themes. Both are done very well and are tasteful.

The Beach Club does have the benefit of a shorter stroll to Epcot, while the Yacht Club is closer to the walkway to MGM. They share the same restaurants and I highly recommend the Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner and Beaches and Cream for desserts and quick bites. Plus, the Boardwalk with its entertainment and eateries is just a short stroll around the bay.

The pool, Storm Along Bay, is fantastic. It has sand in the bottom of the pool, which is such a unique feature. There are also quiet pools that aren't themed and are more laid back.

Hope this helps. Either way, you cannot go wrong with one of the two.
Enjoy!

Like the previous poster said -- they're really very similar. I prefer the YC to the BC but I couldn't really tell you why except that I like sailing a lot . . . they're both great hotels. I've only stayed at the BC once compared to several times at the YC.
Anyway, no matter which one you choose you can't go wrong. It's a great area to stay in. SAB is an awesome pool, the CM's are always so nice, I love hanging out on the boardwalk at night, Beaches & Cream is fantastic. Definitely stay in this area -- you'll love it!

You will not be dissapointed. We stayed at the beach club 2 years ago. It was great. The location is the best part of the hotel along with the pool! Downside to the Beachclub is there is not a food court and The lines at Beaches and Cream can be outrages!! I waited up to 20 minutes just to get something to drink. But....I will stay there again.

We stayed at the YC and LOVED it!!! The service we got there was excellent. Everyone we came in contact with was wonderful. The rooms were large and so nice. (Lots of storage space)
We received a free upgrade to a water view which was just wonderful with all the lights of the boardwalk at night.
Stormalong bay was wonderful as well. This is a great location. We could take the boat or walk to Epcot, boat to MGM, walk to Boardwalk and there were so many restaurants right there. The bus service to the other parks was great and quick. We never waited long for a bus and there is a castmember at the bus stop just there to give out tips , answer questions and give you booklets if you need one. The bus stop is also very close... right outside the front door.
I can not say enough good things about this resort. I love it. We will be staying there again in dec. This trip in April we are staying at AKL to save a little money.
I would suggest this resort to anyone. You will be treated very well!!!!

We stayed at the YC this past December and truly loved it. Stormalong bay was a big hit with our kids. We loved the convenience to MGM and Epcot. The decor in the YC was beautiful and the rooms were really nice.

Enjoy!

We stayed at the BC Villa's in December and it was wonderful. The decor was so bright and airy. I found the Yacht Club to be a little darker. We were on the ground floor so the kids could run around in the grass and get some air. It was really great. The pool was a huge plus, sandy bottom was very cool. They had 2 spa's so they weren't very crowded. It was a quick 10 minute walk to Epcot which was really great at night to see Illuminations. And it's a quick walk over to the Boardwalk as well. I didn't care for the Beaches and Cream though. We had burgers there one night and I wasn't impressed. We didn't try the ice cream though. All in all, we were very pleased with the entire place. Hope this helps.

I think you are right about the decor of the YC(Lobby) being a little darker but not in the rooms. They are white and light blue... very light and airy also!! :flower:
