Can someone clarify how you use these for me? I borrowed DDIL's Playground alpha last weekend & cut out the title I needed. Now I'm having trouble attaching the letters to the CS. The glue stick is driving me crazy & my CM tape runner is too wide. (I was pulling 1 segment off with tweezers & you can see it around the edges on some letters.)

I've read that many of you use the little X with some of your alphas (Script comes to mind) but am not sure if you run your paper through BEFORE you cut them or not?? If you don't, you'd have to trim the excess adhesive off right? Just trying to come up with a reasonable option here. :(

Thanks!

I'll try to explain this best I can. I have the little X and I really love it. The cartridge in the xyron has two rolls, one with the sticky backed paper and the other with clear plastic. You cut out your letters first. Then you insert the letters into the open end, face up. You they pull the paper out of the bottom. As you are pulling the plastic adheres to the adhesive backed paper and your items are sandwiched inbetween. After you tear off the strip, you rub on the top of the plastic around the edges of your items. Then you peel off the plastic (which pulls off the adhesive that was left exposed) and you are left with a sticker sheet. You just peel off your letters. Sometimes on the page you can get some tiny gummy balls from some stray adhesive and I just use my Pick Up Square to take care of that. HTH :flower:

The same for me. I do know that some people run their paper through first and then run through the sizzix machine. But then it can become a pain to tear off the back. Plus some have said it leaves stuff on their machine and dies.

Thanks! I couldn't quite figure it out. That sounds easy enough. I've got a pile of tiny letters I punched out with a set of JoAnns Essentials alphas I'd gotten quite a while ago & wanted to use them on my swap element. But I was starting to say bad words with the Sizzlets Playground letters. I couldn't imagine trying it with the others as they're even smaller! Why do I even start these things??? :sad2:

Because you dear Deb LOVE a CHALLENGE :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Don't we all... we start something with an idea, have all the necc. supplies, then midway change the design and now need to go out and buy MORE supplies. 2 trips each to AC Moore and Michael's and lo and behold, $15.00 in gas, I think I finally have everything! Now HOW do I do that again? :rotfl:
Kathy

Exactly, Kathy! :rotfl: I've been through at least 7 prototypes for just the one element & thought I finally came up with a winner....until I had to stick down those dumb letters! :headache: I may still go back to an earlier thought - except I never did get everything I needed...after $25 in supplies alone - never mind the gas. I just ordered the last part I need for that one even though I'd promised myself I wouldn't do it.

And the worst part is that I'm sure everyone else would have been happy with any of the earlier things I tried.....well, maybe not the one. It was pretty bad. At least I can use all this stuff I bought for my AKL pages. LOL

I bought some spray adhesive to see how it worked with those tiny letters, and it was easier than the xyron. Just spray and stick!
