XPost- Bridgeport-Port Jefferson Ferry/Islip

We are flying out of Islip for our April vacation because it is about $1000 cheaper than Providence or Hartford. Our flight is at 5:50 p.m. on Friday, April 11th. We are leaving from Westbrook, CT. We are taking the ferry in order to avoid the Friday afternoon traffic in NY. I have never flown out of Islip or used the ferry before so I don't know how to time everything or what the procedures are at the ferry. I appreciate any and all advice!!
