I went last year in early December and it was cold! (I wore thermals and layers and still felt the cold sometimes). But the park was practically empty, didn't queue for anything other than food, hotel check in and to get into the park!.

From what i've read online the halloween season ends on the 4th Nov, and Christmas starts on the 9th. I'm assuming the dates in-between that with either be themeless or will show a gradual theme change. Hopefully some one else will be able to help with that.

The 4th is a Sunday so I would expect that to be busy.

Have a nice trip :)

estoleno - can I ask what dates you were there please? We go 29th Nov for a few nights and I'm trying to make sure we have enough clothing etc to keep us warm! I've bought thermals for me and the children, we have snow boots each, as well as thermal boot socks, and the girls have ski salopettes to wear - I will just wear tights under jeans instead. Hoping this will be enough?!? :confused3 I really can't stand being cold - I feel the cold really easily :scared1:.

Also was any of your dates over a weekend? We are predominantly there at the weekend (29th is a Thursday and we arrive mid afternoon). I've never been over a weekend and I'm quite worried about the crowds.

It will be busy as it's French school holidays from end of October to the 11th of November.

Normally this time of year is ok weather wise as it's too early for snow and that. Last year it was 12 to 18° on the 4/11

Two years ago we had snow starting from the 27th/28th of November and it was -2 to -4°

Last year it was dry and overcast with 5° to 11°

This year who knows :confused3

I went for bonfire night for a few years and it was always cold but not bitter. I was fine with a t-shirt or long sleeve top under a warm coat.

The end of November, however, has (in my experience) always been cold. And I mean freeeezing. The key is layers because the minute you walk into a shop, restaurant or hotel you are going to be roasted! The years that I stayed at the NPB I used to leave the room in a jeans and t-shirt and then stand by the back door layering myself up. ;) Remember that you'll be in the cold all day long so it's bound to get to you at some point. I have found that warm thermal socks and good waterproof shoes are the key. If my feet are warm the rest of me can cope, if my feet are cold I never warm up.

It's been four years since I've been though so perhaps the climate may have changed slightly since. I did go almost every year at the same time though and the last time we were there (2008) we had heavy snow and sleet the first day we were there - first time I'd seen real snow on main street! ;)

Thanks Lush & Carrie - I am trying to be prepared for it being very, very cold, that way if it's a little warmer then we are covered! :thumbsup2 Definitely will go with layers - as we are flying Air France we have luggage included in the price so don't need to worry so much about weight as there are 6 of us all with decent hold luggage weighs to use :cool1:.

I've spent all today on a beach near my house with my children (school trip) and it was freeeezing - I was blue! I had 5 layers on top but had on linen crop trousers and only Crocs on my feet due to the sand and hence I just couldn't get warm at all, some of the children were sooo cold too :(. So I totally appreciate the comment about feet being warm & dry. That is where our snowboots will come into their own at DLRP I'm sure :thumbsup2.

Carrie - like you say though, you can't tell, we had a relatively mild winter here last year but the year before was horrific. Saying that, we've really had no summer at all here (yet, fingers crossed!), despite having a mild winter which doesn't seem to follow! :confused3 If it is really cold, at least my girls are getting that bit older so they can cope a bit better with it than babies/toddlers! And they will be happy to have an excuse to drink hot chocolate which they don't normally get :rotfl2:.

i am going in november too. 18th for 4 nights. am hoping it to be dry, not too fussed about the cold, but does anyone know somewhere that does good snow boots for a reasonable price?
i was there this year in jan and i wore wellies and my feet were freezing even with 3 pairs of socks on so need something a bit more warmer on my feet!!
Any help is greatly appreciated :D

I was there the 13-15th Dec which I think was a Tues-Thurs. I'm not sure what its like over a weekend, but if its anything like it is in Summer then its do able as long as you can keep warm! (We didn't even do the teacups because I couldn't bare to hold onto the 'wheel')

I think what you've got should be fine - Im the same as you with feeling the cold! I wore jeans with no additional layers (thermals wouldn't fit, even thermal socks were difficult so I don't recommend skinny jeans in winter!) and I don't remember complaining about my legs being cold :/ I think you mainly feel it still because of your face being uncovered.

Just remember that although you need to be toasty while you're outside, you need to be able to take off layers if you need to because some rides - like pirates - its pretty hot while you're walking through!

Thanks estoleno - I'm sure we'll manage :thumbsup2.

belle24 - mine are from mountain warehouse online site. My DDs were just from our local mountain kit shop. You can often get them in places like Next and sports shops nearer the winter.

Dlp dreams -we were there the end of November last year. It was ok weather wise, although I think I still wore my thermals. DS still wore his snow suit but my hubby thought it was reasonably mild!?....

I had a nice cosy long jacket and I think I did wear my hat (which covered my ears) and my gloves at night.

We were due to go the same dates the previous year but Edinburgh airport was shut for days due to snow, (exceptional weather), however, Disney did let us transfer our booking and our flights were refunded. That kind of weather doesn't happen that often though and there is something magical about Christmas Disney in the cold, we ended up there mid December instead with temperatures of -5 but it was still fab!

Ps. I bought adult and child snow boots from Asda!

Dlp dreams - on a really cold trip, DLH feels worth every penny!:santa:

Thanks wmoon - I'm not sure about the DLH, if it's like last time I wouldn't be too happy! The service was truly awful - it's only the fact that I have stayed there before and had really good service that would possibly make me stay there again :sad2:. Totally agree about it being in the best place for a winter trip though!

I really hope our trip isn't cancelled - we can only go that weekend due to DD's school training dates otherwise it's not at all until more school holidays - like you say, the weather that year was exceptional - but who knows what will happen this year! :rotfl:

For how much DLH costs a night you would think they would make sure they had staff to high standards and don't give guests poor service

Yes well, when I did complain (after several issues culminating in us being locked out of our room) the CM told me if I expected good service then I should try the Castle Club - as if the standard wasn't good enough! To be honest, it doesn't matter which Disney hotel you are in and therefore what you have paid, they should all provide a good level of basic customer service.

Have you had a reply yet ? :confused3

No Carrie - nothing which I think is why I'm feeling a bit down and out about DLRP right now! :sad2: I have emailed reminding them, I have asked for a copy of their official 'complaints procedure' and nothing - nothing at all other than the automated email saying they will get back to me!! I just want someone to read the issues we had and agree that we shouldn't have been treated like that, and that some training/learning will come out of it!

I'd be highly suprised if they had an official complaints procedure tbh... I've never known any company here having one :confused3

Doesn't excuse the fact that you should have had a reply of some sorts besides an automated one.

I'd be well cheesed off as well if it was me :sad2:

It's as if they don't care you know, they know that people will be coming all the time and they don't really seem bothered about keeping repeat customers happy
