Am I crazy to think its silly to send someone a Christmas themed gift day after Christmas? No one gives ornaments or Christmas holly as a gift because you cant even use them until next year. Last year i was really annoyed that everyone was sent a green wreath. We couldnt even decoarate with it and all had to store them until this year. Many complained so this year I was thinking finally a new magic pin, hat or something to use all year. But no a magenta candy cane? Oh well 500 credits invested for something to use December 2007:rolleyes1

Am I crazy?:lmao:

Judge Pirate says... "Not crazy."

Thanks lol Its a pretty little cane but I have no use for it until next year. I hope the give a gift 2007 is better and gives a non Christmas gift item that we can use all year.

That would be great, but it assumes that everyone will be playing come next year.

I have my doubts that I'll survive up until March... :lmao:

Personally, I don't find it odd at all. I've given and received ornaments for Christmas many times.
And in my house, Christmas decorations don't come down until New Year's day. So there's at least 7 days to enjoy it. :) Not to mention that there's always something left out that doesn't get put away. ;)

Technically, there are really 12 days of Christmas. Christmas doesn't really end until Epiphany.

The Twelve Days of Christmas is probably the most misunderstood part of the church year among Christians who are not part of liturgical church traditions. Contrary to much popular belief, these are not the twelve days before Christmas, but in most of the Western Church are the twelve days from Christmas until the beginning of Epiphany (January 6th; the 12 days count from December 25th until January 5th). In some traditions, the first day of Christmas begins on the evening of December 25th but the following day is considered the First Day of Christmas (December 26th).

The origin of the Twelve Days is complicated, and is related to differences in calendars, church traditions, and ways to observe this holy day in various cultures. In the Western church, Epiphany is usually celebrated as the time the Wise Men or Magi arrived to present gifts to the young Jesus. Traditionally there were three Magi, probably from the fact of three gifts, even though the biblical narrative never says how many Magi came. In some cultures, especially Hispanic and Latin American culture, January 6th is observed as Three Kings Day, or simply the Day of the Kings. Even though December 25th is celebrated as Christmas in these cultures, January 6th is often the day for giving gifts. In some places it is traditional to give Christmas gifts for each of the Twelve Days of Christmas. Since Eastern Orthodox traditions use a different religious calendar, they celebrate Christmas on January 7th and observe Epiphany or Theophany on January 19th.

So, Technically, It's ok to have decorations up until the 19th of January. ;)

I am surprised to hear a complaint like this. A lot of people leave their Christmas items up until after Christmas day, at least until the New year.
Personally I think the candy cane was a very appropriate gift. I am sorry you were disappointed. I think a lot of people like the Holiday stuff very much.
If you are a trader and still playing next Fall you will find many people decorating their rooms starting right after Halloween, looking for Holiday things. They are very valuable then. Or just to gift new friends who join after Christmas and do not have anything to use until VMK sells it again.
I for one keep my Christmas rooms up all year long. In the heat of Summer it is fun to go and sit with friends surrounded by snow and presents etc..
Now if they would just make a stocking to put on our walls.... There's always next year.

I agree with all of what you said(just didn't want to quote all that).

I'm sure our Christmas decorations won't go down 'till much after New Years.

The Candy Cane is a Winter-y item too me, anybody else agree? So I'm going to use mine all Winter, and probably after that in some other rooms. :)

Mine stay up at least that long! I love having them up and my house looks so empty after they are down, so I leave them up as long as I can!;)

Uh.. I got three Christmas Ornaments for Christmas this year :rotfl:

my mother inlaw ALWAYS gives dollar store Christmas crap for Christmas. I am thankful for any gift, but really? We'll never use them. Like the Santa made out of astroturf... I'll never display that - you hear me MIL??

Around here you keep decorations for christmas up until January 6th on which day they get changed for Mardi Gras Decorations... 12th night is the first night of Mardi Gras season...

I don't mind about Christmas decorations and do think the pink candy cane was cute- but someone said it was something never seen before in the game and I suppose I was hoping for something different... I think the cookie bench would have made a better give a gift and the pink cane a better host room prize- but that is just me lol I like them both and glad to have them both
