I just bought movies for both of my kids stockings.

Those are pretty big so anything really goes in them.

For all: Playing cards, flashlights, gift cards, Cozy socks, hats, gloves, key chains, favorite "forbidden" snack/drink (e.g., oldest DS loves Monster but I won't buy it for him as it's too expensive) and screaming flying monkeys,

For the guys: Pocket knives, baseball style hats, beer coozies, favorite sports team chatchkies (sp?)

For the girls: nail polish, fashion scarves, pins, hair accessories (brushes, combs, barrettes, elastics, etc.), small jewelry items.

DD16 plays clarinet, so I always put a box of reeds in her stocking. She's also getting an Itunes card, some bubble gum jelly bellys, lip gloss, nail polish, a paperback book, and some Christmas candy.

For the males you could do flashlights, all in one tools, leather work gloves, winter hats, gloves, wool socks, favorite snacks, candy, BBQ sauces, hot sauces, car wash GCs, car wash kits.

For the adult female, you could do cooking gadgets, kitchen linens, body lotions, make-up, heating pads (those pretty fuzzy/fabric ones), cozy socks, slippers, books, candles.

For the 9 year old, BBW stuff, hair accessories, jewelry, movie, books, craft kit, funky socks, hat, mittens/gloves, scarf, stuffed animal, board game, earbuds.

ETA I just thought of this for my own kids but it would fit with your ages as well. Wall and/or car charges for USB cables. We always seem to lose ours and everyone accuses everyone else of using theirs. I'm getting color coded ones for their stockings.

Thank-you everyone
great ideas!!
My list is getting better and better.
I give all of them gift cards for Christmas so everything in their "stocking"
is what they open up. I swear they enjoy the their stockings more than anything else.

thought about favorite treats and have added
Jiffy pop popcorn
Pringles Chips
Gourmet hot chocolate
Keurig coffee cups
Twinings specialty Tea variety package
Coffee Travel Mugs
Mini Liquor bottles
Beer nuts/Cashews
Peanut Brittle

My daughter is 10.....

rubber bands for Rainbow Loom
Books like Dork Diaries or another series she may like
chapstick in various flavors
fake nails and nail polish
hand sanitizers from bath and body works in yummy scents
gum
headbands or hair ties
socks
underwear
first bra type thing

If the bags are larger, 12x12x7, similar to the ones on Disneystore.com, you could probably put a smaller fleece blanket in the bottom. That would take up a good amount of room and then you could pile the other stuff on top of that.

Please, please no first bra or underwear , I had that as a 8 or 9 year old and I am still traumatized by it to this day! It might not be so bad since the OP is talking about one child and the rest adults and I was dealing with stupid younger brothers and a father that loved to embarrass me but just the thought of those items in a stocking gives me the shivers:eek:

Thank YOU!
I just remember about the Rainbow Loom and was able to order it online. I know I heard a few weeks ago that it is going to be a Christmas Hot item this year. I ordered a couple of extra sets of the bands that I can put in her stocking. I think I'll grab her some of the chapsticks also.
Thanks again

It's ok
This Nana is sensitive to "that' kind of stuff.
She loves gift cards so maybe one from Walmart or La Senza Girl.
I'll attach a little card with this and she will know what it's for

Two of the adults are going on a 6 week European trip next summer and I was thinking about this or maybe one of those neck cushions thingys (not sure what they are called), for the plane rides.
Thanks for the suggestions

Something that works for adults and kids: slippers

I swear I have been asking for Mickey slippers for years and have yet to get a pair--maybe I need to buy myself a pair from Santa.
Great idea, their old ones are looking a bit tattered.
I was thinking a new nightgown for my grand daughter might be an idea also.

Thanks

Ok, I can live with that :rotfl2: To add insult to injury for me it also included fishnet stockings (I am dating myself) and a little girdle thing complete with the hooks (don't ask me what they are called)............for a skinny kid? The last thing I needed was a girdle but it held up the fishnet stockings I guess, not alot of pantyhose for young girls then and I was out of the tights phase of my life too!

I love the threads on stocking stuffers this time of the year, its gives me great ideas for new things or things I have done in the past and forgotten for the 14 stockings I do, make that 16 this year.............a niece and a nephew each have a boyfriend / girlfriend!

I fly alot and have used all kinds of neck pillows, I highly recommend "Magic pillow" as opposed to U shaped foam pillows or U shaped blow up pillows. They can be twisted to go behind the neck and another way to go behind the back, they work great flat against the side section of the plane too. I use them in many ways. The U shaped are fine, I have traveled with both of those kinds too but I like the circular total pillow the best. I also like the fact that it slips over the handle of wheeled luggage to free up my hands for other things. If you decide on a U shaped pillow I have seen people put a small strap on it to hook to purses, backpacks etc which sure beats trying to carry it. The inflatable type are nice in that a person can put in as much or as little air as they like for the support they like, its easier to store too but most of the time I would forget to let out the air in time to throw it in my bag, so I ended up carrying it anyway!

I completely agree with this. I received an electric shaver (for my legs) one Christmas, and I was absolutely mortified! I can only imagine how I would have felt if I'd received a bra!! I had two brothers and I was not too happy about my personal grooming being a subject brought up at Christmas. On the other hand, my brother got an electric shaver too and didn't seem to care. But for me, it took a lot of the fun out of Christmas and I still remember the feeling to this day (and it must have been at least 35 years ago). I know it was given with the best of intentions, but it embarrassed the heck out of me.

Just sharing

Just found a great gift idea for
the secretaries in my school office
I usually make them a jar of my special jam,and a Tim hortons coffee GC.

but I thought i might add this also
tied with a pretty Christmas bow and a few cookie cutters, sugar cookie mix or chocolate brownie mix
