Okay, what would you choose? What about hardware? Was looking at XM roady xt + home kit (around $70 after rebate). What for Sirius?? Would like to do this as inexpensively as possible.......was leaning toward XM, searched DIS and saw so many like Sirius.

Looking to play music/talk radio in the car and at home. (Would like portable, but know that's not possible with Sirius)

I would NOT listen to Howard, have 2 young kids who are warped enough. :rotfl:

Demo: 35 years old, female, married, work only part-time, live in major Midwest city, drive a minivan!!

(Originally I wanted an Ipod, but I think satellite radio is a better fit for my personality)

THANKS!

I like Sirius myself, DH just got a GPS system by Pioneer, that has this and I cannot get used to having NO Commercials in between the songs. :p

I received an early christmas present the other night. DH and DD got me a XM for the car and then the box to put it in for home. It is an all in one unit--very nice!!
I know I am going to enjoy it a lot!!

Good luck!

Curcuit City is offering Sirius for free. Yes free! Go to their web-site and put Sirius in the search box. You will see the the receiver/car kit offer for $149. Add it to your cart and it will be on sale for $49.99 with a $50 dollar mail in rebate. The only thing you pay is the $3 in tax. We just ordered it yesterday and are very happy with the deal. Also Sirius has Radio Disney! :earsboy:

We bought a new van last October that came with XM and a free 3-month trial subscription. I was hooked after the first day! We like XM because they have a great kids channel (XM Kids) along with Radio Disney. For younger kids (ours are all under 9) XM Kids is fantastic!! They have very kid-friendly songs (by artists like Justin Roberts, Milkshake, Trout Fishing in America, etc.) and sometimes have story time. So depending on the ages of your kids, they might like it, too.

We've had both, but I prefer Sirius. Mainly because they have an alternative music channel.

I would listen to the free 3-day trials that each offers online if I needed to pick between the two. I have had both, but I prefer XM.

They must have been a very popular item because they are out of stock with those now.

We have had XM over a year now.........got it to listen to Opie & Anthony mostly........

I've been looking into satellite and if I do get it I'll be getting the one with Howard for 2 reasons.

1) I like Howard

and

2) I suspect one of these companies will go out of business or be aquired by the other. If that happens my bets that the one Howard is with will be the last one standing.

Absolutey IS possible with Sirius.. I have a Sportster model with a home cradle and antenna and a car cradle and antenna. Jut a matter of popping in and out!

My husbands XM model pauses and rewinds just like Tivo. I don't know what model it is.
We have been pretty happy with XM but I admit I have never listened to the music, I just got it to listen to foxnews.

I agree! I think the listenership for Sirius is really going to increase, I was thinking about Sirius for the long-term implications as well!

The Sirius free trial isn't working, ugh! But, the XM is playing right now!

The XM roady is on sale at CompUSA this week for $29.95 and it is flying off the shelves! It has everything you need all with it. (Except the home base. We have DirectTV with XM already included for the house)
DH installed it in about 30 minutes, called the 800 # and we are now all set up and ready to go!

I subscribe to Sirius and I have XM on DirecTV and AOL. I don't know what kind of talk XM offers, but Sirius has a fair amount geared towards women. I'm not a huge Martha Stewart fan, but I have been enjoying he new station. They also have 3 NPR stations. I can't believe it, but I have also gotten hooked on the Richard Simmons weight loss show on Sundays.

I like the music on Sirius much better. While XM's claim to fame to play deep tracks may sound good on paper, there are just times when I want to sing along to 70's tune and not some "deep track" where there is a good reason why it isn't a hit.

It's funny that this poll shows XM in the lead. Last week there was one with Sirius winning by a landslide.

The Sirius free trial may just be something with yoru browser. Maybe you don't have the latest version of java? You can call them, they are very helpful any time I have called them with a question.

I have the Starmate Replay 2 which I can use in my car and my home. It also has a rewind and pause feature. It's great and I think it's the best looking Satelite radio out there.

It's now $16.99 after rebates but still a bargain. I love my Howard and have been wanting to purchase this - it was too good to pass up! Thanks!
