O.K., If you couldn't get the WL which resort would you recommend for Christmas time?

Trying to go with an airline employee discount, and I had my heart set on WL. Due to it's popularity there are no discounts :sad2: available much of Nov. and Dec. I really want the kids to see the parks this time of year. Which resort is most decorated and X-mas friendly?

BW and BC are very nice but we did a tour of most of the Resorts last X-mas and any and all of the Deluxes are really done up. Mods a bit less but still very good.
GF was the best I think with the gingerbread house and hugh tree.

I'm glad you asked this question. We have stayed at the WL during Thanksgiving, it was cool. This time we are thinking GF. I am torn between GF and POLY. I need help too. We loved dinner at WL, but we want to stay some where different.

My family and I went this past December and we stayed at the Yatch Club conceirge and it was so beautiful! They did it up so nice, we also loved the decorations at the Beach club. My favorite the GF! I dont know what your budget is but if you didnt have one I would reccomend staying at the GF main building so you could wake up every morning and see and smell the awesome ginger bread house! Then second I would def say the YC! Happy planning!:thumbsup2

I would say GF for decorations, but you could stay at any resort and then resort hop to see how all the resorts are done up.

Buzz - nice pix of CSR!

Well, we're die-hard Poly fans, but from what I've heard about last year & very recent years, Poly is fairly scarce on X-mas decorations.

I've toured all the different resorts at Christmas time and my personal favorite was the Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn. The Chirstmas decorations are very circa 1950 classic. Bright colors, glass ornaments, wreathes - it was very very pretty.

The Grand Floridian is equally beautiful as they decorate the grounds with bright red pointesettias. The lobby is truly beautiful with the big gingerbread house and the huge tree. But it is done in old victorian which means the tree has mostly pink and white ornaments - and just not my cup of tea.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is also nice if you like the wilderness Lodge. But for Chirstmas I would probably pass.

The Contemporary to me is just not Christmassy enough. I know people love the Contemporary but again - not for us.

The Polynesian also doesn't grab me for Christmas. Of course their decorations are going to be tropical in style but we prefer the more traditional decorations.

I enjoyed the Port Orleans decorations. The Frech Quarter ornaments were all done in Mardi Gras colors (gold, purple, green) and had mardi gras mask in the decorations as well. Somewhat traditional but a little funky as well.

Many of the resorts don't go as "all out" as they used to - and that includes the WL (they used to have a GREAT Gingerbread display)!

My personal favorite resort to visit at Christmas - Fort Wilderness! If I want to see Christmas decorations, that is my first choice. A lot of the campers/RV'ers put up the most wonderful displays, it's like being at the Osborne Lights! (okay, not quite!) But you'd be surprised.

So no matter where you stay, you can visit the WL and I'd personally HIGHLY recommend a visit over to FW. You can walk around the loops, or take a wagon ride (currently $8.00 for adults).

I'd say the same for Halloween also - many of the same campers put up wonderful displays, all the way actually to St. Patricks Day (but Christmas is the best, and Halloween not far behind).

Thanks guys! I knew you would come through for me. That's so funny that everyone is saying BW and BC. I told the CM yesterday that it probably wouldn't be Christmasy enough. Shows you what I know.

The Grand Floridian, especially with it's beautiful huge gingerbread house

This is my humble opinion but as you can see from my signature I've stayed at several resorts for Christmas and have visited the rest. My favorite, for that holiday decoration WOW factor, is AKL. It is simply stunning. My next favorite is WL, then CSR, then BWI, then GF. YC/BC, although a little boring as I really do look for the WOW factor (not overdone but WOW) would be next followed by the rest in no order. Poly and Cont really don't do much as far as decorations for the holidays and therefore I won't stay there, even though it is tempting to get a MK view tower room just to watch Wishes. As you can see, I also wasn't all that impressed with GF this past year -- it just always seemed jumbled and crowded and you couldn't really enjoy anything. I also didn't like the yellow lights on the tree -- if they had been white it would have been much better.

I actually don't consider the BW/BC as Christmasy as the WL! But everyone is different. The GF is always beautiful.

I thought the AKL had nicer decorations than the WL..I was surprised about that..
I agree with the other poster who said they didn't find the Boardwalk/BC as Christmasy

I live here and walk through the resorts at Christmas. There wasn't anything very special about the BW/YC and BC for me this year. The outside BW tree (in the back of the resort, near the Boardwalk itself) was TINY, I do have a picture of that from this past year.

The Dolphin had a HUGE tree, I also have a photo of that (on my other computer!). They did okay with decorations, though the tree was big but not necessarily the most beautiful I've ever seen. :)

I didn't get to the AKL this year that I can remember. The WL is always beautiful, though not as decorated as it once was. I did enjoy the GF decorations. Even the Pop Century tree was pretty, I enjoyed hearing the fun Christmas music at the resort while walking around.

Again - Fort Wildernss is my favorite! BC/BW/YC wouldn't be in my top choices for decorations, just MHO.

This year I'll get photos around all the resorts.

Thanks everyone, now I'm re-thinking it all again. Does anyone know more about CSR for X-mas time?

Are are you looking for? I've never stayed at CSR during x-mas but I might be able to answer your question. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

I agree with JennMominRI 100 %. Stayed at both during the Christmas Season and AKL lobby took my breath away when I walked in. Have fun wherever you stay!
