X Box 360 ~ Am I too late

This is what Dh has asked for his Christmas present.

He told me to just wait and get it closer to Christmas time..
Well I went yesterday to a game store to preorder it so I would be sure to get it
(I wanted to do this a long time ago but he kept saying wait )
And the cashier said that I could preorder it but has No idea when I would get it.. I asked Before Christmas and he says No..


Where do you think I will have a good chance of getting it??????

I feel bad now since I waited.. I want my dh to have it for Christmas but I don't know if he will now..

I am willing to preorder and pay up front like some of the stores were asking for..

Looks like there are several on ebay and you can still preorder at Toys R US--but they are bundles and have a high pricetag. Most other sites say that orders placed after 10/26 may not ship until the new year.

I'd say your only chance of getting one by Christmas is to be in line at Best Buy, or some similar store, at midnight on the 21st.

I just got an email from BestBuy yesterday that they will be offering Rewards Zone members the chance to pre-order XBox 360 online tomorrow (Wednesday 11/9) begining at 10 am CT. You have to go thru the link in the email and have your Rewards Zone number available to place the pre-order. If you have a Rewards Zone card, the email may be in your junk mail. It's worth a shot.

try some of the off name stores like media play fred meyer kb toys walmarts at midnight . i have not preordered one system and have had them for christmas and have sold quite a few on ebay for extra $$ made a killing on ps2 when they first came out .

Just talked to my local walmart tonight, and the will open up at midnight to sell them. I have been hearing there are going to be limited thru x-mas. I would try target, bestbuy, circuit city also. Stay away from the game shops as they preorder, and are not even getting enough to fill those orders. Good luck and happy hunting. I will be right out there in the hunt also..lol

I just wanted to say thank you !!!! after I read this, I checked my bulk folder and found my rewards e-mail, jumped on this morning and was able to pre-order one !! Thanks so much for this info !!

Sony PSPs were supposedly hard to get but store after store that I went into had them. MS claims they are going to sell 3 million uints b4 XMAS.

Also they can not afford to have any orders unfilled since the PS3 comes out in early 2006, Do you think they will piss buyers off with another uint on their heels?

I think the systems will be very hard to get unless you pre-ordered, there have been thousands of sales already on ebay and I read on another site that some stores won't even be able to fill all their pre-orders on the release date ! all I know is I finally have one pre-ordered for my teens for christmas since that's all they seem to want ! whew !

That is my point, you think they will be very hard to get. If you knew that you could purchase one anytime b4 xmas would you have purchased today?


They will spread out shipments early in order to keep that artificial demand high and right b4 xmas they will flood retail, cuz they dont want to lose any sales while creating the hype.

That's interesting that you should say that since the PSP was not released until the Spring of 2005. Are you sure that you're not thinking of the Nintendo DS? They had a problem with some blank pixels on the screens and had to fix it at the production level, which did cause a shortage during the holiday shopping season. They became more readily available closer to Christmas but were still difficult to find in most markets.

I agree that the companies do appear to make it appear as if there is a shortage of units. It's not like their release date and the holidays came around with no advance warning. Their marketing people know what they're doing. And the number of retailers who are bundling the units to increase their profits is just amazing. How many of us who pre-ordered were able to order just the core unit (with no hard drive)?

Yeah, they hype just as much as the toy manufactures do. But DS13 had the chance to play the console on Tuesday at BestBuy. He described it as "wickedly awesome" and says it blows all the other game consoles away with it's speed and graphics. I'm glad I pre-ordered his months ago and I hope that GameStop comes thru for me.

Well I have been reading on other boards about folks getting kicked off the 1st shipment list, and getting on the 2nd or sometime 3rd shipment. If you have a preorder at places like EB, gamestop, or gamecrazy I would suggest you give them a call to see where you stand. Perhaps all this shortage talk is just that..Talk Still if you want one why chance it. My butt will be standing in front of walmart at 8pm that night for their midnight opening on the 22nd. Crazy? Perhaps but I want to be sure I have one.
