Really wanted to stay at the south end of the stip (is it the south side)? as i have already stayed at QII and Rodeway.

Wanted somewhere a little bit more special

We stayed at the Rosen Centre over Xmas 2001.

The hotel is huge, we were on the 18th floor facing Seaworld. The views can be magnificent with no danger of having any traffic noise !

Pros.

- Excellent restaurant/buffet/deli
- Good quality beds
- Large *heated* pool, two hottubs
- Pleasant bar area
- Valet parking if you're tired
- Good location - possible to catch Lynx 50 800yds down road for $1 a person to WDW
- Driving to WDW without the hassle of I-Drive traffic
- Strollable to the better restaurants on I-Drive (all south of Sand Lake Rd IMO)

Cons
- Bar is quite expensive
- Parking is in a multi story at rear of hotel, it's a good 200yds walk from car park to foyer
- Conference hotel so can be busy with working people on expences

We were very happy with our stay, ask away if you have any further q's.

We stayed at the Rosen Centre back in 1996 (it was the Omni Rosen then). It's a lovely hotel and I agree with everything 2 Point says. In fact, I can't really think of anything to add. I've never stayed a the Wyndham Orlando Resort, but that looks lovely too.

In case you haven't already seen them, here are the links to the official sites:

I've stayed at them both Tracy and they are both lovely hotels.
The Rosen Centre is very much a convention hotel and a bit impersonal. It has a fabulous swimming pool and several eating places. We only used the deli which was great and fairly good value. We also got a room overlooking Sea World. I would really echo what has been said about this hotel already.
The Wyndham is not quite as grand but I slightly preferred this hotel. I joined the Wyndham by Request program and was lucky enough to get the room we wanted. The hotel has many buildings (18 I think) and I had heard that the ones toward the back of the property were best so I made this request. We were lucky enough to have our own balcony overlooking a lagoon. It was lovely and peaceful and we had fun feeding all the ducks. The staff were lovely and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Not bad considering I only paid $30 a night through Priceline.

Hi Tracey.

The Rosen is the best of the 4 I-Drive hotels we have stayed at.
(Haven't stayed at the Wyndham)

Echo all said above about this hotel.

Although it is all a matter of choice, the Rosen would seem to be more what you are after, as it is indeed at the Southern end of I-Drive. The Wyndham is more central at the busy junction with Sand Lake Road. I like both ends of I-Drive, but the Southern part is classier and more scenic.

Called in for an excellent meal there in July and immediately wished we were staying. Will definately stay at this hotel again one day. Also it depends if you like a 'proper' hotel set up where
everything is in one building or a more motel style where everything is spread out in the grounds (as at the Wyndham).

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions regarding the Rosen.

Stayed at the Rosen in Oct 2000 and really didn't like it too much: I think that it was the "impersonal/conference" atmosphere.

It isn't dirty or in disrepair or anything, its just that I didn't like the place - it was so bland and business-like. Wierd person that I am, I found it a bit depressing (but then maybe I have spent too much time in business hotels...). We actually checked out a couple of days early and checked into the Swan - definitely worth the extra money - was very happy there.

The parking is miles from the guest rooms and the rest of the hotel.

I haven't been to the Wyndham, but would not recommend the Rosen Centre (but appear to be in the minority here) - especially if you want something with a friendly, family, "resort" feel.

Hope this is helpful (although sorry it is negative).

Boo
