Anyone ever hear of this place? We are looking at taking the kids to the Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg area of TN for spring break (never even heard of it until someone on the Dis mentioned it!)
Trolling around on Tripadvisor it looks like there are a lot of touristy/fun little things for families to do.
Is Dollywood worth it? What about hiking and fishing with kiddos? (saw lot's of pictures of bears. Yikes!!)
We are going to Massanutten (Shenandoah Valley) this Summer, would this maybe be pretty similar to that?
Any suggestions/tips are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

My in-laws live in Fairfield Glade. We don't get to do much of the touristy stuff when we visit them, and the immediate area to the resort is pretty quiet-OK, you are out in the middle of nowhere. It's probably 15 minutes to Crossville which at least has a Walmart, but not a ton else. The resort has great golf and a nice new indoor pool area. The company actually bought a giant tract of land and then developed it. It is a HUGE haven for retirees. I think last time I looked, the average age was 62 or something along those lines for the "town" of Fairfield Glade.

Oh thanks!
We don't mind driving to get to the more touristy locations, but it looks like it's a 2 hour drive to Pigeon Forge, which still might be OK if there is stuff to do at the resort. Is it warm enough at the end of March to go out on paddle boats or do some fishing at the lakes? We can book it through Armed forces vacation club for only $349 for the week, so it might still be worth it even if we have to drive everywhere.
I am looking at the Inn at Christmas Place in Pigeon Forge now, anyone ever been there?

Most years it is pretty decent there in the spring, but this year, all bets are off! It has been the craziest weather ever. There is a community theater in Crossville that does some fun plays-we saw Seussical there. It looks like they are doing Annie this spring. That might be fun. We spent time almost every day in the indoor pool. They also have a gym that you can shoot hoops and they do badminton and such. They also have a paint-a-pot type place where you can paint pottery and wooden things-a little pricey. The Tennessee aquarium in Chattanooga is about 2.5 hours away, too, if I remember right. Anyway, there's some more to ponder for you.

Thank you so much! I think we have decided to check it out in late Summer when we can use the lakes. The weather this year has been so crazy I don't want to plan on anything that requires nice weather. I'm thinking it could snow until July at this rate!!!
Suessical was awesome!
