I am torn. I want to do the Dolphin Encounter, my son doesn't. Although I think staying on the ship would be fun, I would like to get off and go to the beach (I love the beach!) The Blue Laggon Beach Day is a possibility but I am told the Wyndham is nice, you don't need a room and you can use their facilities.

Can anyone tell me about their experience? How is the beach? Can you get lunch there by the pool and is it good and how expensive? Some feedback would be appreciated.

Been on the Wonder the past 2 Octobers. Myself, DH, DS5, DD10. Love beach, but didn't think the kids would be up for 5 hr excursion.

We got off the boat, walked through off the doc in Nassua, took at cab to the wyndham. Remember to pack something to eat, drink, sunscreen, a towel, wear your bathing suits, and bring beach/sand toys if you've got little ones. I think the cab ride was $15. The ride was less than 15 minutes. They dropped us off in front of the hotel, you enter, walk through the casino and out to the beach.

It is a nice, clean sandy beach area with plenty of chairs. There was also a small lagoon, but last October it was ruined by the hurricane. The water is lovely and calm, but gets deep quickly - ok for adults, but the kids can only play in the first 10-15 feet. There were one or two vendors selling while we were there, although they did not pester us. We spent about 2 hrs there.

When done, towel off, walk back through the casino to the lobby and ask for a cab back. Be sure to bring cash for the cab ride.

We didn't actually purchase anything at the Wyndham, but I'm sure they would appreciate those who buy drinks/play at casino/etc.

Nice, Cheap, beach day! With limited hassle for kids!

Enjoy!!

We took the bus to this beach, caught it from the center of town (bus #10), and for our family of five, it was 1.00 per person, each way. Very cheap. However, this day was a bust for us because the beach water was FREEZING (went in April) and the pool was empty because the water wasn't heated and the slide was turned off. We turned around and went back to a nice, empty ship and enjoyed the adult pool for the afternoon. So if you get feedback from others that the water is warmer in October, go for it. It was very pretty.

Thanks! I think that when we going over Labor Day weekend the water should be warm and the pool should be filled. Of course if tehre is a hurricane that probably would change that scenario a bit! I heard that the pool has a swim up bar and there is a restaurant by the pool. I figure if we want to just eat there it should be okay. We will be 4 adults and 1 child and I know my DS would love the slide and the opportunity to be on the beach!

We did this in April with our two DS 9 and 12. We took a cab ($20. each way) and had a "Tour guide" type driver, which was fun. The water and the pool were both too cold for DH and I, but the boys enjoyed it regardless. We stayed about 2 1/2 hours, then headed back to the ship for a late lunch (everyone ate a big breakfast that morning!). It's a nice way to spend a morning without the commitment of an excusion. If it's a beautiful beach day, go to the Wyndham; if it's a so-so day, just stay on the ship.

We actually stayed at the Wyndham for 10 nights this April for spring break.
The beach is nothing spectacular, there are beach chairs available at no cost.
The pool was very COLD. Every day we had hoped the sun would warm it up.
The pool is the same depth- 4 ft all over. There is a pool bar/restaurant, the food is very pricey - $50+ for lunch for 2 adults 1 child and the food was not yummy. The cocktails were approx $9 each. The pool really does not have a swim-up bar - it looks as though they had one at one time but there aren't any stools/available bartender to have drinks served in the pool.
I would recommend going to the Radisson next door to the Wyndham for lunch and drinks. Unfortunately you cannot use the pool or beach at the Radisson, they have staff walking around checking to see if you are a guest.
We were very disappointed with Wyndham.
I would highly recommend going to Blue Lagoon for the beach - the water is INCREDIBLE or doing the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter (it was much better than the ones we did in Cozumel & Isla Mujares).
