I just read somewhere that the slides at WBC require the kids to be 48 inches tall. Is that true? Is it enforced??

The 48 inch height rule was enforced on our last trip to WBC (December 2010). DS is a strong swimmer and the lifeguard commented that he knew he could manage the slide, but he had to follow the rules.

DS was disappointed, but it wasn't hard to keep him busy with other things. We limited the number of times our older DS went on the slides so as not to upset his little brother. The pools at WBC are great, even without being able to go on the slides!

Yes, the rule at the water slide at Building 6 is 48" and it is enforced. Our DD is 47 1/2" tall, and they would not let her ride. The water slide at Building 3, though does not seem to have a height limit as she was able to go on that without any issues.

What is the difference between the two slides?

I thought I read you need to be a pretty strong swimming to go down the slide at Bldg 3, and that's not the case at Bldg 6.

My DGD is not a good swimmer. But she likes to go down waterslides into swallow water. I don't anticipate her growing five inches in a year.

The slide at bldg 6 ends not in a pool, but because its enclosed, they don't want someone to flip over and freak out is what the lifeguard told us last trip. It is manned by a lifeguard. The one by bldg 3 ends in like 4 feet of waters. This pool has a lifeguard and the slide is only open when the lifeguard is there.

Ugh. Should be the other way around (the enclosed slide should empty into the shallow water while the unenclosed slide empty into the 4-foot pool). There are many toddlers who cannot swim, yet still love going down slides into water.

No. It's all about height, not about ability to stay afloat.
