Wyndham Bonnet Creek ...... Very Nice.

My feelings about non-Disney hotels on Disney property aside, I got an email about the Wyndham Bonnet Creek opening in October. Wow. Looks like a beautiful resort.

Out of curiosity, I put in my trip dates for November and got a rate of $139 a night. Kinda tempting.

We have stayed there in the past. Very nice place. We got on the Epcot side and watched Illuminations couple times from our balcony. Like I said , it is a time share, but I didnt buy into it, my poor mother did. I just dont agree timeshares nor DVC. They give you a good per night rate to get you there and then you have to go threw a sales meeting which Bonnett Creek sales people WILL HAMMER YOU. I dont agree with paying $20000 for some basic point package and then having maintance fees, $800 or more, and those can and WILL increase each yr. So if you average in your " mortgage" note of $20000 and your yearly maintance, WOW. I even took the DVC tour, holy crap, after a period of 20 yrs or so, you own nothing you have to start all over. (THIS WAS 4 YRS AGO, so I dont know if things have changed) With RCI i belive you have a deed to a week or some bull mess like that. You could take some really nice vacations with that money. I even asked my mother to NOT will to me, I dont want to pay the maintance fees nor taxes on it.
Like I said its very very nice, she bought the "presidental suite" points very nice, but still. common. They know everyone is on a disney "high" so they try to sell on your emotions at the time. Be very careful and dont buy into it. If thats something you want, thats you, but dont buy on your vacation wait 2 months atleast to think about it once you come off your emotional disney high. DVC is not for everyone, but it works well for us and our travel plans.
Research, don't get emotional, and make the decision hat makes sense for you.

LOL, my mother was ready to write out a check to Disney for time-share. You aren't kidding about them getting people while they're on that Disney high! Although, it's very easy to talk people into doing things they wanted to do in the first place.

I practically had to beg her to wait until she got home and talk to Dad and Ted (the accountant) first.

I've rented from an owner at Wydham Bonnet Creek in the past. Got a 2 bedroom for $120 a night. The resorts is very nice. The pools are great. With the full kitchen, we saved a lot of money on food that trip.

We avoided the time share presentation by telling the sales weasel at check in that my yearly income was very low.

I'm confused...the article says the resort doesn't open until October and doesn't say anything about it being a time share?

Wyndham Bonnet Creek currently has time share condos. It is my understanding they are currently building a hotel that will be an addition to the existing resort.

We stayed at bonnet creek in 2 bedroom. They are absolutely gorgeous! I'd have to say even nicer than dvc. But, staying on property gets us every time.

We're staying there for our October trip. For a 2 bedroom with a full kitchen it is $109 a night. I couldn't pass that up. I priced that against Disney for the exact same room type at BWV and came up with $770 a night. Erm yeah, we'll stay "off property". The reason I put it in quotes is that technically it's as close as CBR or Pop Century.

I have heard about the front counter spiel and have no issues telling a sales person no. I am also on the Bonnet Creek thread and another tip is to unplug your room phone since most people from home will call via your cell anyhow.

Yup, There is some confusion.

There is the Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort which is a timeshare resort that has been open for quite awhile now. (http://www.wyndhambonnetcreek.com/)

There is also the Wyndham Grand Orlando at Bonnet Creek (http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/MCOGR/main.wnt) which is a hotel being opened between 2 of the timeshare resort towers.

They are 2 different things. A Timeshare Resort, and another Hotel. There is still some question about whether or not the amenities of each will be usable by guests of the other. (Time share resort pools being able to be used by hotel guests / Hotel pool by Resort guests)


As for being on property...Technically they aren't. Just like the Waldorf and Hilton, they are located on that "lost" land-locked piece of land that Disney never owned. Because of the highways surrounding it on 2 sides, and Disney on the other 2 sides, the only way to access the property is from Disney property off Buena Vista Drive.



As for the timeshare, the nice thing about Wyndham timeshare is that it is Deeded, unlike DVC which is a long-term lease. You can also purchase Wyndham points via the resale market for next to nothing (Never buy from the developer).

I hope that the hotel guests aren't allowed to use the timeshare pools. The nice thing about bonnet creek is that the pools are never crowded because you don't have as many people crammed in there. But adding a hotel to that with SO many more people, you are going to make the pools more crowded.
