I've heard quite a few people talking about this, so I decided to look into it. I am very confused.

It seems like there are actually two resorts: one hotel and one collection of timeshares/villas. Is this correct? Anyone can book either, right?

Assuming that's true, which would you recommend? We don't really need the space, as we always eat out, but are those the only rooms that offer the view of MK, Epcot, and DTD? Could you have that view from the hotel? Any location we should request?

Finally, how's the shuttle service? Is it complimentary?

Thanks!

ETA: Are kids are teens. Is this hotel to "little kid friendly"? Also, regardless where you stay, do you get access to all amenities (all pools, restaurants, etc..)?

Anytime we have ever gone we bought from someone on Ebay so my knowledge of how everything works there is somewhat limited but it's basically just one huge resort. The buses are complimentary but they run differently than Disney buses do, they actually run on a fixed schedule which has it's +s and -s. As for views, seems like last time we were in blg 4 and we had a pretty good view of Epcot. Not sure when you are going but I would strongly, STRONGLY suggest looking at what is available on Ebay. The other day someone got a whole week in a 1 br for under $200 :thumbsup2

BTW, my Wife and 3 daughters love this place and couldn't care less if we stay there or on Disney property.

Yes to both, and there are actually two ways to book. Either the Wyndham Grand or Wyndham timeshares can be booked directly through Wyndham. But the smart way to book would be to book through a Wyndham timeshare owner because it will be MUCH less expensive for the same lodgings.

I would recommend the timeshare, rented from an owner, rather than through Wyndham. Although you think you don't need the space, believe me you will enjoy it! The timeshares have full kitchens, and also have washer/dryers in each unit. While you may not want to cook big meals, it's great to have a big refrigerator. You'll probably find yourself cooking some breakfasts and making lunch sandwiches, etc.

The timeshare villas come in two flavors -- Deluxe, which actually means standard, and Presidential, which really means deluxe. Villas range from 1 BR to 4 BR.

Bldg 4 might be a good choice for your family. Bldg 5 tends to be heavily oriented toward "little kids" because of the zero entry pool with lazy river there. Not sure about the hotel, but I would think that the timeshare would be more little-kid oriented than the hotel.

Bldg 4 has the only adult-style pool, plus a pool bar that has occasional live entertainment. And it's just a short walk from the main building where there is another large pool with lazy river and the activities center with all kinds of things to do.

All guests (both timeshare and hotel) have full access to all amenities at the resort -- six pools, two lazy rivers, minigolf, activity center, spa at the hotel, large gas BBQ grill areas, pool cabanas, etc, etc.

We stayed at the hotel in October and LOVED it!!! The beds were wonderful, the hotel was quiet, and absolutely spotless!!! We could see fireworks from our window and from the pool. As a hotel guest, all recreation areas are available to you. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!!!!!

We love the timeshare section but they were still building the hotel when we went last year. We booked our vacation of May 2011 from someone selling on ebay. For a week, we paid $500 or $600(can't remember exactly) for 7 nights for a 2 bedroom condo. We LOVED that place. When we go more then a week to Disney, we stay one week at Bonnet Creek and one at Disney but as soon as our baby will turn 3, we will avoid staying at Disney as it will be to much money to rent 2 rooms for the 6 of us.

Shuttle service wasn't hat great when I went last year. We took the shuttle 2 days. If you are hoping to get back to the resort in the middle of the day, Iwas only possible past 1pm. The buses were very full and if it was too full, you had to wait for the next scheduled time. that being said, It could have changed this year. It's no worse then Disney buses except for the fact that they have less buses scheduled.

Yes it's kids friendly. There's the lazy rivers, the zero entry pools, a play ground, minigolf and I'm prety sure I also saw a splash area for much younger kids.

Thanks for all of the kind responses! We really like the Grand Wyndham (a.k.a. the "hotel") and are considering it for my HM weekend in January. My main question is can we see the parks (MK, EP, and DTD) from the hotel or only from the villas? Thanks!

Hi there ,we stayed at the hotel in July and had a fantastic view of the fireworks ...it was like a private viewing sitting in our room !!! We loved it.
This was our first trip not staying at a Disney owned resort and will be back .There isn't resort fee and car park fee but as long as your aware of this before you go. Enjoy.!
