Back at the beginning of the school year, we were notified that there was going to be a change to the bus routes. No more were kids going to be picked up in front of their house. There were designated bus stops. We had two to choose from. A bus stop at the end of the street, or at the middle of the street. (our street forms a circle, a backwards P). The 2nd stop would be where the bottom arch of the P meets the straight back.

Since September, my kids have been going to the top of the street. A family with two kids lives at the house on the corner. These 4 kids are the only ones to get on at this stop. Over the months, I have wondered why it takes the bus so long to go around the circle. I was never interested enough to ask why.

Last week, the boy that gets on with my kids, threw some snow on the ice my son was walking on, causing him so slip and fall on his face. My DD said he did it on purpose, knowing the snow would make the ice slippery. DS had a pretty nice road rash on his face. I was not aware this happened until they got home, because I don't go to the bus stop with them. I guess he got on the bus with a bloody lip. Since then, it's been kind of a war between the kids. The "boy" has always been a little punk, and I don't let my son play with him other than waiting at the bus stop.

Today, I asked them if they wanted to switch to the other bus stop on the street, and they asked which one. ???? There should only be one other one. Oh, no. They bus stops four times around the circle. So, every kid on our street has been getting picked up and dropped off at their house, except for my kids.

If I call the bus manager, I will be told there are two bus stops. It'll probably get the bis driver in trouble. I'm going to talk to the bus driver about picking my kids up at the bottom of our driveway. I don't want to go against the rules, but it seems everyone else is.

Why not try letting them stand at your driveway and see if the driver will just pick them up. If he passes them then take them to school and then call the bus manager and complain. This way, if he does just stop and pick them up then he might continue doing it and no harm done to anyone, but if he doesnt then get his butt in trouble and make it fair for all the kids.

That's what I'd do.

That happened on a street we lived on a while back. I knew there was only one stop way up at the top of the street. One day the kids and I were waiting on the porch, and another family was waiting halfway up the street on their porch. The bus came really early, and he stopped at our house, then stopped at the other house, then stopped at the top of the street. Voila, new bus stops! He then started dropping them off in front of the house too. The bus driver didn't mind at all.

Out of the blue our bus driver started making an extra stop to let my next door neighbor's kid off right in front of their house. She is in K. Our bus stop has always been about 5 houses down the street. We thought this kid was constantly late in the morning so the bus driver was prob. being nice and stopping for her. It turns out the bus driver said to me that on cold days she'll stop by my and neighbors house (and anyone else's). That's nice of her but I think she needs to stick to the posted bus stops. Of course even on nice days (above freezing) this woman will not bring her kid to the regular stop. They just wait outside their house.

I assume if the bus driver does this for everyone it will take a much longer time to get to school. Plus at least once a month there is a different bus driver and I'm sure they're not going to do this and then kids/parents are gonna get confused. I'm not planning on saying anything. I'm just gonna see how it pans out.

I would probably go with this as well.
