WWYD? WL or VWL?

We are returning to WDW in Jan for a family reunion. I'd love to try out WL, but can't decide on villas or not. We are 2 adults and 3 kids (7,6,4). I was pretty disappointed by Poly Conc. in June. We will need either conc. or kitchenette. (2 kids with special needs). The rest of our group have smaller families (2-4) and will probably stay @ WL. Is there any big advantage, space or location, to the villas?
Thanks in advance!

I have never stayed at WL, just the villas. As far as location, WL is slightly better located IMO. It is closer to the boat dock and surrounds the pool. The villas are slightly off the side, further from the MK side of the resort. The are probably equidistant from the buses, with the WL slightly closer to the parking lot. The difference is fairly negligible, but if mobility is an issue it may matter to you to be in WL instead.

The advantage to the VWL is the space. I haven't stayed in conceirge before. We have stayed in the villas studios twice and enjoyed them. We rented points so cost-wise the villas were a much better deal.

Hope that helps a little! JJ

With five in your family (all aged three or over), you'll need a two bedroom villa which sleeps 8. You'll get a master bedroom with a king sized bed, a second bedroom with either one queen and a double sleeper sofa or two queens and a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. Stackable washer and dryer, jacuzzi tub in the master bath.

You also get a full kitchen, multiple TVs and at least one DVD player. If you get the one bedroom with a studio lockoff as the second bedroom (very likely) you will also have two bathrooms.

All two bedrooms, lockoff or dedicated, will have two bathrooms.

We stayed in WLV last summer & loved them. I have a daughter with autism so we spend more time in our room. The lobby in the villa's was a great place to relax. It had tables with board games that my husband & children would play in the afternoons, comfy couches and a fireplace. We enjoyed the quiet pool right outside the villa's. It was close & usually empty. The bus stop is also closer to the villa side. We didn't use the boat to MK only the bus. We had a 2 bedroom villa that was what they called a dedicated unit. We are going back next week and staying there again. Can't beat having the washer/drying right in the unit. I had groceries delivered to us also.

Thanks for the help. What about the WL jr suites? Where are they? Will they take 5 people? Will a standard WL room take 5?

Thanks a bunch!

WL standard room only sleeps 4. The deluxe room (jr suite) sleeps 6. It has 2 queen beds and pull out sofa. Look at the WL FAQ thread. They have the layouts of all the rooms.

Don't know about the Jr. suites besides what I saw in the Great Hotels show on WL, but it looked nice and big. You would have to compare the price against maybe renting points from a DVC member for a two bedroom. The standard WL room will not take 5. I wouldn't even try to sneak in your 4 year old as the 5th (not that anyone on the Dis would even contemplate doing that). The rooms are just too small.
