WWYD? Trip with Another Family

Photograph the back of everyone's ticket so if they are lost they can be easily replaced. This is in case you run FP for them.

I agree with most of the above....we did this last Easter, there were 3 families with 10 altogether. We discussed what things we would be doing that everyone wanted to do (we did a day at Universal, a day at Knotts, Medieval Times, and a day in Santa Monica. All of those things we planned for in advance. Apart from that and a few meals, we started out the trip together until everyone had the hang of how the parks worked, then each day everyone did their own thing, sometimes we met up or mixed groups, sometimes we ended up on our own. Best to keep communication open, but don't expect you will spend all your time together, and I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Just make sure that the opportunities you offer them to meet up don't inconvenience you. Don't set yourself up to waste time waiting outside a ride, or miss a parade because you're trying to find them. I just have learned that I worry more about showing people a good time than they worry themselves.

Just say "we'll be at the x o'clock showing of this show" or "lunch reservations at y". At WDW, I also have to be careful about including others in dining plans, now that they charge $10 per person for cancellations. Do they do that at DLR?

We have done a DL trip and a wdw trip with my bf and her family. We planned together. For wdw we were online at the same time booking FP. We booked some meals together. DL was awhile ago. We did some things together but not all. I think you should sit them down to figure it out now! How much time do you want to spend with them? You need to plan your family vacation, not theirs.

I traveled with a friend of mine and her family. We mainly met once a day or something because we had different Disneyland touring styles. Worked out well.

Pick the meals out in advance and send links to the menus. We had an issue once at DL where our guest wanted very plain food and we lost time looking for the right place to eat...

Some very good suggestions above.

One thing we do if traveling with friends or extended family is overlap dates we will all be there. We always make sure to have some days in the parks for just us away from the larger group. We usually tack on a day or two after everyone else is leaving so we can make sure that we have at least one day exactly the way we want it.

That really helped us when we traveled with another family. We had an awesome time with them, but it was also nice to do things the way our family wanted to do it.
