I have trips planned for April 2021 and (hopefully) February 2022. I qualify for the military salute tickets and the DVC annual pass discount, but there are hiccups with those.

I already used 5/6 of my military salute tickets this year, so I only qualify for 1 more and I would need 2 more tickets for my upcoming April trip (we’re a family of 3). I could buy the two tickets through UT or Disney. But, I could also wait and hope that Disney increases the military ticket limit. Or, I could wait and buy annual passes to cover my 2 week-long trips if/when they become available.

I’m leaning toward getting tickets just for 2021 because I’m hopeful the military salute will be renewed for 2022. But for the first time in a long time, Disney also didn’t renew the military discount for hotel rooms for 2021, so that could suggest no discount for 2022.

WWYD about the tickets? I don’t have any idea how soon I would have to make a decision. When do you think April park passes will start booking up?

Thanks for any opinions/thoughts!

Deb

I'd wait. I wouldn't stress over park reservations right now (they don't appear to be filling up that far in advance). And I especially wouldn't stress if your plans include staying at a Disney resort (I think they adjust the size of that bucket to accommodate all resort guests).

As for discounts, I'd be surprised if Disney offers them in the current business environment. I'm guessing they'll come back once park capacity can go back to 100%. AP sales should reopen at some point in the future- maybe at the start of 2021, but that's just my guess.

There’s no limit on the number of military discount tickets (NOT military salute tickets) you can buy, and those don’t expire until Sept21.

Great point! But I’m also hopeful we will have park hopping by April and I don’t think the regular military tickets are park hoppers? I checked through Shades of Green and they look like non-park hoppers. I live 3 hours from a base so I usually get my tickets from SoG.

You are correct! The base tickets sold at SOG are not park hoppers. I got ours a month or so ago and they are one park per day. Here’s hoping they bring hopping back for your trip

For regular tickets, you can add park hopper during your trip, but you have to add it to all days. I would wait a bit before buying anything; however, I would keep a close eye on the resort guest availability calendar to see how stuff starts filling up. I wouldn't buy from UT right now. I think it's easier to get refunds or credits for tickets directly from Disney right now. I don't have any first-hand experience though, but i suspect Disney is more willing to work with you. Plus, you don't really save that much with UT. I love UT though and have bought tickets from them many times in the past.

I have an AP, but it expires next August. Son and husband have unactivated APs. We have a trip in November and July and then another planned for November 2021. It went head and booked a room only reservation, since it's refundable. I am waiting for my 11 month DVC window to book the 11/21 trip. I wanted to go ahead and book park passes, because I am anal retentive in that way. It wouldn't let me with my AP. So, I sucked it up and bought tickets for me. Supposedly, I can use them to renew my AP.

Thanks, all! I’ll hold off for a bit, but I’m thinking the regular military tickets if we don’t hear about extra salute tickets before then.
