Having not flown in 10yrs and never flying these airlines, I am not sure what to do. We can drive 2hrs and fly SW into MCO or spend $200 more (incl. All fees & luggage) and fly Allegiant into Sanford from our local airport only 20 min away. Either way we will rent a car and the thought of dealing with 2 smaller (ours being VERY small) airports vs 2 large ones is intriguing. Any opinions on either the 2 airlines or dealing w/ Sanford vs MCO?

Using the "search" function reveals lots of threads dealing with Allegiant. I recommend them highly. I preferred the free parking at my airport, the small size of both airports, the prices, the option to pick and choose what options I wanted to have on my ticket, etc.

Keep in mind Allegiant usually has a limited schedule - one flight 2 or 3 days a week. They can also decide to pull cities from their schedule - I just saw posts from people in Duluth & Hagerstown where Allegiant is not flying from their city for the month they want.

I booked our flights on Delta a few days ago, because I got better rates than any of the "discount" airlines. Then yesterday, Allegiant dropped their rates to $69 each way. I'm going to TRY to get Delta to refund (or at least let me change my tix to flight vouchers for different flights, since we fly quite a bit), and change my flights to Allegiant. I'll also be adding a day to our Disney trip since the airfare will be $400 cheaper (for our family of four).

I've heard lots of nice things about Allegiant, but have never flown them. Southwest is always reliable. As are the major airlines, but usually their fares can't compare. We aren't planning on renting a car (staying on site) since the complimentary transportation (ME) is included.

Whatever airline you choose, I'm sure you'll have a great time!
