WWYD (Job Hunt)

And the search is over! #3 came through! I talked to #5 but they said their HR moves too slow and if I got a job offer I'm happy with, take it! Never heard back from #2 or #4.

Bad news is the pay is slightly less than what I used to make (~15% less). BUT, they would pay for my meals while I'm travelling (so that's a savings), and I wouldn't have to drive as far (used to be ~50-60 minute RT commute each day). So less gas and less wear/tear on the car. Put those two together and the pay difference isn't as bad. And it will be a lot of travelling (2-3 weeks/month). So "side" benefit is I get to accumulate airline miles & hotel/rental car points.

Waiting on the written job offer (got and accepted the verbal), but that is supposed to be to me by midday tomorrow.

Just wanted to update. Excited and nervous.

Congratulations!! :goodvibes

That is wonderful. All things considered the BIG winner is no dual living. win, Win, WIN!!

Wishing you all the best! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes Good news and I hope you’re pleased! Change is hard and one always wonders about the roads not taken. As a wife and mother, I’d not relish my husband being absent from the household but somehow travelling 3 weeks a month seems preferable to actually living in separate locations. Probably harder on you though. :flower3: I wish you all well and hope you enjoy some fabulous future vacations with your travel points!

Did you manage to schedule any time off between jobs so that you can actually enjoy some of the time off?

I accepted an offer on December 20th and didn't start until January 13th.

I was finally able to do what everyone told me to do, enjoy the time off.

I've been off since Oct. 7. I've really had nothing to do except browse the internet (including looking for jobs). Anything I want to do costs money, and until I get back to a steady income, I want to minimize that as much as possible.

I've wanted to sleep in, but my body disagrees with that plan too. :P

I had been off since October 27th (yesterday was my 3 year layoffaversary) until I accepted the offer December 20th but I didn't really get to enjoy any of that time as I was worried about getting a new job and was basically looking for a job full time.

I had a great time from December 20th to January 13th. Since my wife is a teacher, I really enjoyed the days off together.

In my case I was getting paid until late April so the time between accepting the offer and starting didn't cause any sort of financial difficulty. Even with the time from October 28th to January 13th I still managed to put a significant chunk of money away and pay for a spectacular trip to Hawaii.

Good luck at your new job!

Congratulations! I'm so glad you're happy with the job that came through. I hope it turns out to be a great fit!
