I know, I know, Food & Wine, it's a sacrilege to skip it. We have two boys, 4 & 7, who I think would love Soarin', Test Track, Nemo, Turtle Talk etc. I don't think they would get that excited about World Showcase, but between a passport and Agent P, I think they would enjoy it. Here's the deal. It's going to be hot, and we'll have been in parks quite a few days by then.
So, I'm thinking we could start the morning in Future World and just hit that stuff and go to Typhoon lagoon for the afternoon (and some much needed cooling off and water slides and some lazy river time for mom). OR, should we just skip Epcot altogether?
I asked my 7 year old and he seems to want to just go to the waterpark (we live not far from WI Dells and go at least once a year for a long weekend). My husband wants Epcot, but I don't think he realizes how much a mental health day at the waterpark might help:) So, we are a family divided....What do you think?

With a 4-year-old, I would do Blizzard Beach rather than TL. He's too small for the 3 best attractions at TL.

I think the waterpark day sounds like a winner. While my kids have never been "bored" at Epcot, they definitely (even still) enjoy a waterpark more, especially when it's surface-of-the-sun hot. 3 of the 4 of us prefer BB; DD likes TL best. I think BB has way more to do for a 4&7YO.

From Minnesota, so Blizzard Beach's theme does nothing for me. Snorkeling with sharks (albeit tiny ones and a short swim) appeals like crazy to my 7 yo. To be honest, it's not so much about the waterpark itself (we have been to just about every awesome one there is in WI Dells), it's more about the break and chance to relax. We can go on awesome water rides at Noah's Ark.

My kids hated Epcot in the heat until they were older. I like your plan.

As much as I love EPCOT, for a pure enjoyment factor at that age, i think Typhoon Lagoon would be your better option.

Doesn't your resort have a pool? If it's not about the water rides, why not save the money and just relax by the resort pool?

My youngest was just shy of 7 & couldn't get along with the snorkel & 68 degree water. :( If you've been to Noah's Ark, DO NOT bother with the family raft ride at TL. Worst ride of this type we have ever encountered. Noah's Ark has 4 of them that all put it to shame. Don't go more than knee deep in the TL wave pool unless you want to get pounded.

My 7yo is quite used to swimming in lakes (and much colder than 68 degrees!), so I think he'll do okay, but that is really good to know. Good to know about the raft ride and wave pool too.

That is a really good point. We are staying at Art of Animation, but I'm planning lots of pool time in already. As beautiful as the pool is and as excited as we are about it, it doesn't have any slides. My boys will both be more than happy with pretty generic slides and a lazy river.
Keep the opinions coming!

ModernArtist,
I think the idea of just relaxing by the pool would be a good one if we just skipped Typhoon Lagoon and did a truncated tour of Epcot. Maybe that is the best option all around now that I think about it.
