WWYD? Disney Wish vs. Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

As a first-time cruise I just picked the ship that had dates that worked better for us. I think I will have to look into the ships more if we like cruising enough to book future cruise vacations

We were skeptical of enjoying the cruises because we absolutely love going to the parks...but we found that we really love cruising too! We have only been on Disney cruises so I don't know anything about the other cruise lines.

I’d probably lean the Magic for an Adult only cruise. Went on both ships this year and the Magic felt better for opportunities for adult activities.

Wish felt better for family activities.

It’s a bit of how the Lower deck venues are set up at the Wish vs the Magic. Fathoms/O’ Gills/Keys for any evening adult activities are more secluded where places like Luna/The Bayou are kind of exposed and open to all. The venues like Keg and Compass/Triton on the Wish felt smaller and more congested as well despite being a larger ship.

Also the adult pool and deck area is larger on the Magic vs the Wish.

Agree to disagree… if by adult activities you mean trivia games, maybe, but I really love the extra theming that went into the adult beverage areas on the wish. Yes the bayou is a more casual area that is ‘Exposed’ but there are 6 others that are very private and fun. And I like that they are more distributed around the ship, makes it easier to get to one if you arent aft.

Not just trivia games but any scheduled activity that was 18+. There aren’t big enough spaces that aren’t also open air on the Wish for those sorts of things.

Yes they’re more spread out across the ship but on my sailing on the Magic I never had issues finding a table or a spot to sit where on the Wish certain venues became standing room only.

The theming is great on both ships, both are beautiful ships.

I also liked the theming at Palo on the Magic over the Wish.

Hooks Barbery was great for a more intimate Reserve Whiskey Class on the Wish, as was Keys for the Tequila Class on the Magic.

Can’t go wrong with either ship, but I just came away from both sailings that the Magic may be a touch better for an Adult only trip.

I was deciding this and decided to see both islands. My favorite part of the cruise is castaway so having another island day sounds great!

That thinking works if you consider drinking or sitting in a lounge an activity. As I am sure many probably do. My mind does go to Adult Trivia. But also Match Your Mate, Silent Disco…

So this is the decision I was facing as well. Ultimately I decided to book Disney Magic. For one it was significantly cheaper, and two I thought it would be fun to check out LC. Mostly it was the cost though. Cruises on the Wish are significantly more expensive and I wasn’t sure I would actually have a better time. Newer ship doesn’t necessarily equal a better experience.

Exactly. It’s a matter of personal preference… I prefer to engage with my partner in conversation and meeting other people rather than organized fun. It’s not that we don’t do more organized activities it’s just we don’t prioritize it so as to downplay the benefits of the Wish. Like I said, agree to disagree, not sure why that’s not valid.

But we’re getting caught up in the weeds as often happens here, the original question was not which is the better ship for adults, the magic or the wish, but what would be a better new experience to enjoy, LC from a familiar boat, or a new boat, the wish. Regardless of if you might prefer one category of the boat experience over another, for me, the excitement of exploring a whole new boat for a whole cruise edges out the excitement of a new island that’s only going to get better in time. But I make it clear that’s my personal preference if that perspective is helpful to the OP. Feel free to agree to disagree.
