WWYD - DHS on March 4?

I was planning on going to DHS on March 4, had my day planned out, but the opening of Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is derailing (pun intended ;)) my plans.

This was the original plan: RD RnR/ToT, FP for SDD and a couple of throwaways, then do some shows in the afternoon, single rider for Smuggler's Run in the evening and Rise of the Resistance just before park close. I'm travelling solo and this would be my second DHS day so I would've done the rest of Toy Story Land/Fantasmic on my other day.

I could easily fit the Runaway Railway in the afternoon and just brave a queue, but I'm actually more worried everything in the park will be a mess that day. I have never been at WDW on the opening day of a ride so it's hard for me to picture just how bad it will be.

The other option is to swap days - on March 5 I'm doing MK/AK DAH, but I suppose I could do DHS before the After Hours event, and go to MK on the 4th. That would mean I'd lose an evening at DHS, so I probably would still leave MK early (5ish?) to do the Star Wars rides in the evening of the 4th. That feels like a bit silly, though, because of the time I'd be wasting in waiting for the bus and travelling between parks.

So what would you do? Just brave the crowds on the 4th and hope for the best, or swap days?
Thank you!

We are planning our HS day on March 4th as well. I’m not sure what to do. I think I’ll wait and see how the FP tiers shake up (if at all) and make a decision from there.

Us too-dining ressies already made for March 4. We also think we will wait and see when our FP day opens (January 2) what tiers are in place. This may be a go with the flow and prepare to wait kind of day for us. I am pretty sure it would be better to rope drop MMRR, go to MFSR in the mid to late afternoon, and RotR before park closes, but will be watching wait times for the Galaxy's Edge rides. I wonder if they will even change (or add MMRR as a FP option)fast past tiers before April or May-here's hoping they do

Add my family to the list of those scheduled to be in DHS on the 4th. Typical.

Me too! I thought we were going on March 3, but it turns out i was looking at an old touring plan. we're actually scheduled to go march 4. time to rearrange the deck chairs, it seems. there is no way we'll go on the 4th.

Nobody knows what the crowds will be like for that ride.
It doesn't have the hype that Tron does or the pull of a new land.
But, being the first Mickey ride ever, I expect there will be a large crowd.
Going to a different park isn't a bad idea.

We’re in the same predicament, we have a planned DHS day on March 4th and I don’t know what to do. Not sure switching to another day that week will be much better. I’ll also wait to see what will be announced regarding the FP situation.

My plan was to visit DHS on the 5th, and I'm at a loss. Could switch to the 3rd, but I kinda want to see the new ride...
