Hello, I have been lurking for a couple of days, as I begin my Disney trip planning. Not new to Disney, but this will be the first time staying on site.
I wanted to book a villa at Wilderness Lodge, as we have small children (1 &3 at time of visit)and felt the laundry and kitchen would come in handy.
I received a PIN in from Disney, so wanted to use that. BUT -- can't use the PIN when booking a villa until sometime @ March.
We are planning to go in Oct 2008.
Would you go ahead and book the villa at full price and hope for a later discount? Or would you wait until March and try and use the PIN (may not be able to or there may not be any units available)? Or go ahead and use the PIN and book rooms at the Lodge or Poly?
HELP please.....no ideas which is the better option....:confused3
thanks!!

Congrats on first time onsite! You'll love it--especially with the kids!
You know, with little ones, a monorail resort (easy on/off with strollers, close to MK) like the Poly is pretty handy to have, especially if you're in a building near the GCH our TTC. Personally, I'd take a monorail resort over a villa, but I don't like doing laundry on vacation, anyway! :)

I would go with a monorail resort too. There is always a public laundry room and you can rent a frdge (or free at mono- resorts) for snacks in the room. then you could book now and not worry about it in March.

or, you coudl try the rent/trade board and rent some DVC points but they still couldn't book until December. Doing that you could go from Oct 7-14 in a studio villa and only pay $1,060 or a 1 bedroom villa for $2,140. Good luck!

being able to hop on monorail to come back for a quick nap is priceless with those ages. Esp. if you have a PIN, do it. You only need to do laundry 1X and it's no big deal--pop it in while you go to the pool, after kids are asleep and you're vegging on balcony, etc. Also, I think they come with a fridge.
There is a quick service restaurant (Captain Hooks?) that has decent, cheap food. You can get a kids meal for $4 or so--plenty for 2 kids your ages to split.

My only hesitation is to say that having a 1 BR with separate living area is nice if you kids need total silence to sleep and you still want to watch TV. But the balconies at Poly are lovely and you feel like you are in HAwaii---I would rather play cards or have a glass of wine outside for that week---you can watch TV anytime.

You can always cancel or change (if they come avail.) later, but I would want to be on monorail.

Poly all the way!

BTW, what is the PIN offer you mentioned, that cannot be used until March? (March is when I'm going, so I'd be interested in knowing what offer you received).
