Pricing out every option for April 12-20th. If it came down to the AOA mermaid room or Royal Room at POR which would you choose? My daughter will be 6.5 and my son will be 4. We are so torn on what hotel. These two seem like the most bang for your buck theme wise..

Since they are both rooms and not a room and a suite, I would definitely go with POR Royal Room for several reasons:
1. POR is truly beautiful and has one of the best resort food courts anywhere
2. AOA is huge, and with the large size comes a huge volume of people.
3. You can visit AOA, tour the grounds and enjoy the food court anytime you want and then go back to tranquil POR

Either way you win.. Happy choosing!

I would choose AoA - the Port Orleans resorts dont interest me at all. i am VERY excited about staying at AoA in 2 weeks though!

- your 4 year old son will most likely LOVE the Cars courtyard at AoA- I know my own is very excited about it!
-The resort looks so exciting, fun, and 100% Disney! Disney movie decor everywhere, so exciting and appealing to the kids.

I'm actually debating that exact thing (except Garden view in POR), and my kids are almost the exact same ages!

I have no clue:confused3 I'm totally torn. If we go during free dining the price difference really is minimal (around $300). If it was *ME*, it would be POR hands down. But I know my kids will FLIP OUT over the Cars area of AOA. But I'm afraid of crowds and lack of "amenities" that *I* like.

I am totally zero help, sorry :upsidedow

If free dining is an issue, go with POR. For the money, you get the DDP without having to upgrade.

And if free dining isn't an issue, I vote for POR anyway. I like the serenity of POR after a long day at the parks. AoA looks overwhelming and overstimulating.

While staying at POR in a royal room in June, we walked AoA one afternoon. My boys, ages 4 and 6, both wished we were staying there instead. POR is my favorite Disney resort, but AoA looked like a kids' dream and only the Nemo section was open then. The pool area had them both sold in seconds, though they couldn't go in, of course. If I could do it again, I would switch to AoA for them.

But you're paying rack rate on the room so you'll pay at least $65 more per night at POR. You could upgrade the maximum 4 occupants for less than that to regular DDP.

With your kids ages, AoA hands down. They will love it. DD7 and DS12months loved AoA and they can't wait to go back in December. The pool's are super cute too. Go for AoA. I've done both and would do AoA simply due to the your childrens ages.

AoA Mermaid rooms aren't eligible for free dining...so OP will be paying full price for any dining package she gets.

I am getting that the OP is making this decision based on the theming, not necessarily the price. And she didn't say anything about free dining so that doesn't seem to play into this decision. At least that is what I think, lol!

For me, I would always choose the moderate. On the other hand, when my kids were younger, the theming of the values was a big draw for our family.

POR has the larger room, queen beds, double sinks in a larger bathroom area and the boat to DTD. It also has lush and beautiful landscaping that makes you feel very transported to the south and its peaceful. I love the quiet pools and main pool at POR.

AoA, is a value on steroids as far as theming! I am sure most kids would love it, and while I think it looks colorful and very fun, I think I'd get really sick of that much theming in the room after about two nights tops.

I don't think you can make a bad choice and there is always the split stay option.

POR is probably my favorite resort and while I haven't stayed at AoA, I have stayed at the other four values (Music and Pop several times each) and a value could never sway me over POR unless I really needed to save money.
