Here is my situation. I recently bought a 30 BWV resale, so now we are members! I bought with the intent of adding on at my own pace.

Now, I want to add on. I was thinking about 60 points at GCV. Thats enough for an everyother year trip to DLR. It would be something like 5 to 6 day trip to DLR.

But I am thinking of just adding on 100 points and taking the cruise incentive.

So here goes. Would you just add on all your 100 points at GCV and always have the 11 month window at the smallest resort.

or

Would you get 60 at VGC and 40 at AKL or BLT?

If I did that, then I would have:

60 VGC
40 BLT/AKL
30 BWV

What would you do?

How many nights and in what accomodations are you looking at? Would the 40 BLT/AKV be enough for you? Do you go to DL more than WDW? Could you use the 100 GCV?

I would not want that few points available at the 11 month window at 3 different resorts. If you ever wanted to string more than 3 days together at 11 months, you would be hard pressed to do it.

So I would buy enough points to at least be able to book Sun-Thur somewhere WDW at 11 months unless you live on the West coast.

I'd rather have the 100 points, but only if I lived close enough to use them. If you plan on visiting WDW more often, then I would have the bulk of my points at WDW and a smaller increment at GCH.

I live in Iowa, so pretty much right between the two!

I like the 60 points at VGC because that is enough to go around my wifes b-day for 4 nights every year in a studio. Or everyother for 4 nights in a 1br. Or Everyother in a studio with bringing my mom and MIL. (2 studios). I just know that if I ever want to GUARANTEE a DL vacation, I pretty much have to own there. With how small VGC is, its pretty much one chance to buy before it sells out.

That being said. I love WDW! BUT with that many on property resorts, that is almost always something available at 7 months. I work in retail so getting holidays off is tough. My wife works for USPS, so everything is a holiday. but typically we would travel off peak times. and with 30 BWV points 2-3 nights per year in a standard view studio and 40 BLT points, that would allow for split stays.

Why can't I just have enough money for 250 VGC, 250 BLT, and 250 AKL! :confused3

I guess the fact that this is even a concern in this economy should make me thankful!

IF you see yourself going to Disney Land every 2-3 years, then I'd do the 100 points at VGC. If not, then I'd do another WDW resort. Living in Minnesota, I find I really wouldn't go to Disney Land as often as that, so we prefer our points at WDW, but you may feel differently.

If you know that 60 at VGC is enough, then I would not buy more than you need since those points can only be used at the WDW at the 7 month mark.

With 30 BWV, and 40 BLT, you could either book split stays each year OR, using banking/borrowin and alternate your stays.

For example, 2009 trip--you bank BWV but borrow BLT points--you then have 80 BLT points to use this year. In 2010, you would have no BLT points, but would have 60 BWV points to book a stay. This way you can book one resort at 11 months.

Either way, and I may be in the minority, but owning more points at WDW vs . extra at VGC, would give you more flexibility in hooking up stays with your BWV points at 11 months.
